Job summary

Aditi Consulting seeks an experienced RPG Developer to join our technology team in India. The role supports legacy applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform and engages with US-based teams to acquire domain knowledge, transfer knowledge, and modernize RPG-based systems.

Key responsibilities include maintaining RPG IV, RPGLE, CL, and DB2 for i programs, analyzing requirements, and driving modernization while ensuring quality and reliability across the production lifecycle.

Qualifications

• IBM i / AS400 experience with RPG III/IV/RPGLE, CL and DB2 for i.
• Experience with CA 2E (Synon) including Models, Functions, Action Diagrams, and Access Paths.
• Knowledge of modernization approaches including API enablement, service extraction, UI modernization, and DDS-to-SQL conversion.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and support applications built on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Participate in structured knowledge transfer sessions with US-based RPG development teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and production incidents.
• Develop and maintain RPG IV, ILE RPG, CL, SQLRPGLE, and related IBM i applications.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, process flows, and support guides.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, QA teams, and global technology teams.

Requirements

• Experienced IBM i / AS400 Developer with strong expertise in RPG III/IV/RPGLE, CL, and DB2 for i.
• Hands-on experience with CA 2E (Synon), including Models, Functions, Action Diagrams, Relations, and Access Paths.
• Responsible for analyzing and modernizing legacy IBM i/Synon applications while preserving critical business functionality.
• Experience with application discovery, dependency mapping, business process documentation, and modernization roadmaps.
• Knowledge of modernization approaches including API enablement, service extraction, UI modernization, and DDS-to-SQL conversion.
• Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, IBM i web services, MQ, MuleSoft, Kafka, or API-led architecture is preferred.
• Strong production support, impact analysis, troubleshooting, and ability to distinguish Synon model-level changes from generated RPG modifications.

Required Skills

• Experience with SQLRPGLE and service programs.
• Exposure to application modernization initiatives on IBM i platforms.
• Knowledge of APIs, web services, and integration with modern applications.
• Experience working in a global or distributed team environment.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, healthcare, finance, logistics, or other legacy-system-intensive industries.
