Cisco Nexus/Catalyst/ASR/8300, Aruba CX and Juniper switching
Role Summary
Senior network engineer responsible for implementation, migration and troubleshooting of enterprise and data-center routing/switching infrastructure across Cisco, Aruba and Juniper platforms. The role requires strong architecture awareness and hands‑on execution during complex network cutovers.
Key Responsibilities / Implementation Scope
- Design, configure and implement Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity across data center, campus, branch, management, DMZ and external routing environments.
- Configure and migrate Cisco Nexus switching, including Nexus 9504 core, Nexus 9348 access and Nexus 93180YC platforms used in DMZ/access roles.
- Configure and support Cisco Catalyst 8000/9000 platforms, Cisco ASR 1002 and Cisco 8300 series external routers.
- Configure and migrate Aruba switching platforms including CX 6200, CX 6300, CX 8320 and related hardware such as JL479A and JL658A.
- Support Juniper switching where present, including legacy EX3300 and EX2200 devices identified in the environment.
- Implement and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, static routing, route redistribution, route filtering, VRFs, HSRP/VRRP and policy-based routing as required.
- Configure VLANs, trunks, STP/RSTP/MST, EtherChannel/LACP, port-channels, inter-VLAN routing and network segmentation.
- Support connectivity integration with firewalls, load balancers, wireless, NAC, voice, cloud and security platforms.
- Perform hardware refreshes, network migrations and site/data‑center cutovers with pre-checks, rollback procedures and post‑change validation.
- Conduct packet‑level troubleshooting, routing‑path analysis, interface/error analysis and root‑cause investigation for complex connectivity incidents.
- Prepare implementation plans, MOPs, test scripts, rollback plans, low‑level designs and as‑built documentation.
Required Technical Skills
Area
Required Hands-on Experience
- Nexus 9504, 9348 and 93180YC; NX-OS operations, VLAN/VRF, vPC/port-channel concepts and data-center switching.
- Cisco Routing / Switching – Catalyst 8K/9K, ASR 1002, Cisco 8300 series; enterprise LAN/WAN and external routing.
- Aruba Switching – Aruba CX 6200/6300/8320 and relevant models such as JL479A/JL658A.
- Juniper Switching – Juniper EX3300 and EX2200 operational support and migration exposure.
- Routing Protocols – BGP, OSPF, static routing, route redistribution/filtering, VRF, HSRP/VRRP and policy‑based routing.
- VLANs, 802.1Q trunking, STP/RSTP/MST, EtherChannel/LACP, port‑channel, inter‑VLAN routing and segmentation.
- Troubleshooting – Packet capture, routing‑path analysis, latency/loss analysis, interface errors, convergence and incident RCA.
Certification Requirements
Mandatory: Active CCIE certification is mandatory. CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure is preferred; legacy CCIE Routing & Switching is acceptable where valid/relevant.
Preferred / Advantageous
Additional Cisco data‑center, Aruba switching or Juniper certifications are advantageous.
