Job summary

Dover is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in Hydrogen Technology and Materials in Bangalore. You will lead R&D projects on metallic alloys, coatings, and hydrogen storage, delivering technically robust solutions from concept through delivery.

The role requires a PhD with 5+ years of post-PhD experience in metallurgy or coatings, strong microstructural knowledge, and hands-on material characterization skills. Hybrid work setup in Bangalore is offered.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or closely related discipline (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years of post-Ph.D. industrial R&D experience in metallurgy, materials science, or coatings technology.
• Experience in alloy development and testing for hydrogen applications, including embrittlement assessment and permeation studies.
• Strong background in physical metallurgy, phase transformations, microstructural evolution, coatings development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Consult with internal stakeholders to define project scope and outcomes.
• Collaborate with external partners and internal teams to identify viable solutions.
• Lead and manage R&D projects from concept to deliverables within scope and budget.
• Characterise materials and coatings using optical microscopy, XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDS, TGA, DSC and mechanical tests.
