Job summary
Jubilant Ingrevia Limited is seeking a highly motivated R&D Chemist (Senior Research Associate - Semicon) to support organic synthesis, process development, and troubleshooting activities at our Greater Noida facility. You will design and execute lab experiments, develop synthetic routes, and assist with technology transfer to pilot and plant operations.

Responsibilities
- Conduct literature, patent, journal searches to support research projects and process development.
- Design, execute, and document laboratory experiments to develop and optimize synthetic routes for organic compounds.
- Perform chlorination, reduction, oxidation and other transformations; troubleshoot and propose process improvements for yield and quality.
- Provide technical support in scale-up and technology transfer from lab to plant operations.
- Maintain safety and GLP-compliant laboratory practices; record results and prepare technical reports.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented R&D Chemist with expertise in Organic Synthesis to support research, process development, and troubleshooting activities. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments, performing literature and patent searches, supporting plant operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in chlorination and related reaction chemistries, hazardous chemical handling, and analytical data interpretation.
- Conduct scientific literature, patent, journal, and SciFinder searches to support research projects and process development activities.
- Design, execute, and document laboratory experiments in accordance with established protocols and project objectives.
- Develop and optimize synthetic routes for organic compounds through laboratory-scale experimentation.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and prepare technical reports for internal review.
- Perform and evaluate reactions involving chlorination, nitration, reduction, oxidation, and other organic transformations.
- Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and recommend process improvements to enhance yield, quality, and efficiency.
- Provide technical support in scale-up activities and technology transfer from laboratory to plant operations.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues associated with chlorinated and other specialty chemical products.
- Collaborate with production teams to improve process performance, productivity, and product quality.
- Support process optimization initiatives through root-cause analysis and experimental validation.
- Safely handle hazardous chemicals and gases such as chlorine, hydrogen, and nitrogen while ensuring adherence to established safety procedures.
- Operate and monitor basic unit operations including reaction, distillation, filtration, and drying processes.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and utilization of laboratory equipment.
- Interpret and analyze results obtained from: Gas Chromatography (GC), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), Karl Fischer (KF) Analysis.
- Maintain Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN) and ensure accurate recording of experimental observations and results.
- Prepare and maintain ISO-compliant documentation and technical records.
- Utilize enterprise applications such as SAP, BAAN, and ELN for documentation, inventory tracking, and process management.
- Manage laboratory material indenting and coordinate procurement activities to ensure uninterrupted availability of consumables and chemicals.
- Interpret and apply Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information for safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with EHS, GMP (where applicable), ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
- Promote Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality Control, Procurement, and Engineering.
- Coordinate effectively with team members and junior staff to ensure timely execution of projects and departmental objectives.

- Strong knowledge of organic synthesis and reaction mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience in chlorination, reduction, oxidation, and nitration chemistry.
- Familiarity with scale-up processes and plant troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in handling hazardous gases and chemicals safely.
- Strong analytical interpretation skills using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.
- Literature and patent search expertise using SciFinder and related databases.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, GLP, GMP, and ISO documentation requirements.
- Experience with SAP, BAAN, ELN, or similar enterprise software systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
