Job summary

Tanla Platforms is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to drive testing quality across web and backend systems. You will design manual tests, automate where possible, and collaborate with development, product and DevOps to ensure robust releases.

The role requires hands-on API testing, Python-based automation using Robot Framework and PyTest, and SQL-driven data validation. Prior exposure to Docker/Kubernetes and cloud platforms is a plus.

About the Role

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products through advanced testing strategies, automation, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Development, Product Management, and DevOps to define quality standards, identify risks, and implement robust testing frameworks.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Design and execute manual test cases to validate functional and non-functional requirements across web and backend systems.
• Perform API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar frameworks to ensure robust and secure service integrations.
• Conduct FTP-based validations, including file transfers, format checks, and data integrity verification across environments.
• Lead regression testing efforts to ensure new code changes do not adversely impact existing functionality.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve test coverage and reduce manual effort.
• Perform database testing to validate data consistency, integrity, and correctness using SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand requirements and define effective test strategies.
• Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Participate in release planning and quality gate reviews to ensure production readiness.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and standards.

What You'll Have

• 5 to 8 years of hands‑on experience in Quality Assurance, including test case design, execution, and reporting.
• Strong exposure to QC activities including Test Case Design, Test Execution, Test Automation, and Status Reporting to stakeholders.
• Experience in Performance Testing.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in API Testing and API Automation Testing.
• Hands‑on coding experience with Python, Robot Framework, and PyTest.
• Exposure to at least one IDE such as VS Code or PyCharm.
• Minimum 2 years of Database Testing experience using SQL.
• Basic understanding of Unix/Linux and commonly used commands.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to Cloud platforms.
• Experience using Jira.
• Telecom domain experience (CPaaS SMS, WhatsApp, Voice, Truecaller, RCS).
• Basic understanding of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
