Job summary

Omni Recruit Private Limited is seeking a seasoned Supplier Quality Engineer to manage supplier development from APQP to PPAP. The role requires 8–10 years in manufacturing, preference for automotive, with expertise in core automotive tools and IATF 16949 auditing.

You will work closely with suppliers to ensure robust processes, lead audits, and drive continuous improvement. Travel readiness and strong communication in English and Malay are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years in a manufacturing environment, automotive sector preferred.
• Experience in Supplier Quality Development function.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, 8D, SPC, MSA.
• Auditing per IATF 16949 and internal auditor qualification preferred.
• Willingness to travel and work in matrix organisation.

Responsibilities

• Engage with suppliers from APQP to PPAP for New Parts development.
• Review and update project timing plans and track progress.
• Provide technical hand-holding to suppliers for robust processes (layout, tools, material handling).
• Escalate progress delays and set preventive/corrective actions.
• Report activities to SQ Manager and host.

Job description

Diploma or Engineering Degree (or higher), (Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)

Experience in Supplier Quality Development function

Minimum 8 to 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment (Experience in the automotive sector preferred)

Technology knowledge and experience in at least one of the following commodities: Metal casting, Welding, Stamping, Plastic Moulding, Electronics, Complex assembly

Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 preferably internal auditor qualification

Experience of conducting Audits Experienced in MS tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)

Exposure to Vehicle Launch Process will be an added advantage.

Knowledge & Competencies

Knowledge in automotive core quality tools:

• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
• Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
• Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Control Plan

• Measurement System Analysis (MSA)

Auditing processes or systems (internal or supplier audits) per IATF 16949 and/or VDA 6.1/6.3 and/or OEM-specific

3. POSITION FUNCTIONS

Working with suppliers for New Parts development from APQP to PPAP

Review and update of project timing plan

Reporting the activities to SQ Manager and Host

Technical hand-holding with supplier for implementation of robust process (Including Layout, Tools, material handling and preservation) Co-ordination with supplier for development of sub-supplier

Escalate any progress which not happening as planned.

Set up preventive and corrective actions in agreement with the hierarchy.
