Job summary

Weatherford is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to lead design, development, qualification, and optimization of Well Completion Products, including packers and downhole tools. The role serves as the technical authority for mechanical engineering, driving product reliability and safety across global teams.

You will mentor engineers, manage cross‑functional projects, perform advanced analyses, and ensure compliance with API and ISO standards throughout the product

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development.
• Extensive experience with Well Completion Products and Downhole Tools.
• Strong knowledge of API, ISO, and industry standards.
• Experience leading complex engineering projects and technical teams.
• Proficiency in CAD, FEA, and engineering analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, qualification, and optimization of Well Completion Products.
• Act as technical authority for mechanical engineering activities and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Perform advanced engineering calculations, simulations, and FEA to validate performance.
• Address structural integrity, pressure containment, reliability, and failure modes.
• Drive reliability studies, root cause analysis, and design optimization.
• Lead risk assessments, FMEA, and cost‑benefit analyses for new technologies.
• Ensure API/ISO compliance and maintain design documentation and change records.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and field support.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to lead the design, development, qualification, and optimization of Well Completion Products (WCP) within the oil and gas industry. This role serves as a technical authority for mechanical engineering activities, driving product innovation, reliability improvements, and compliance with industry standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with global cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and commercially viable completion solutions while providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.

Responsibilities :

• Serve as the technical authority for the design, development, qualification, and optimization of Well Completion Products, including packers, completion tools, and downhole equipment.
• Lead product development projects from concept through qualification, validation, commercialization, and field deployment.
• Conduct advanced engineering calculations, simulations, stress analysis, fatigue assessments, and FEA to validate product performance under challenging downhole conditions.
• Resolve complex technical issues related to structural integrity, pressure containment, sealing performance, reliability, and failure modes.
• Drive continuous product improvement initiatives through root cause analysis, reliability studies, failure investigations, and design optimization.
• Lead feasibility studies, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and cost‑benefit analyses for new and existing technologies.
• Ensure compliance with API, ISO, customer specifications, and internal engineering standards throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, and HSE teams to develop safe, manufacturable, and cost‑effective product solutions.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, technical documentation, qualification reports, and change management records.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing.
• Support field operations and customer‑facing teams by providing technical expertise, troubleshooting support, and engineering recommendations.
• Champion HSE excellence, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
