Job summary

BVR People Consulting seeks an experienced Senior Project Engineer for primary substation engineering in Chennai. You will lead AIS/GIS substation design, HV/EHV layouts, and coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure quality and compliance.

The role requires a BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering with 10–15 years of hands-on experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards. Opportunity to contribute to major power projects and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience in AIS/GIS substation primary engineering design.
• Strong knowledge of HV/EHV substation engineering and design drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; exposure to BIM tools is an advantage.
• Experience in technical tendering, vendor evaluation and customer coordination.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review substation layouts, sections, general arrangement drawings and equipment layouts.
• Handle earthing/grounding, lightning protection, cable routing, cable trench layouts and electrical clearance drawings.
• Work on auxiliary LVAC/LVDC systems, cable sizing and associated engineering deliverables.
• Review technical specifications, tender documents, BOQs, RFQs and vendor technical offers.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors and cross-functional engineering teams for design reviews and approvals.
• Support site visits, installation, commissioning and as-built documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable IEC/IEEE standards, project specifications and quality requirements.
• Review engineering deliverables and guide junior engineers as required.
