Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Design Engineer to lead primary design activities for AIS/GIS projects across multiple geographies. You will manage deliverables from pre-bid through commissioning, review drawings, and coordinate with procurement.

The role requires BE/BTech in Electrical, 7–10 years of relevant experience, and strong knowledge of layouts, earthing, cabling routing, and standards.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in Primary Design Engineering for Substation projects (AIS/GIS).
• Strong knowledge of substation layouts, equipment arrangements, earthing, cabling routing, and related standards.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and deliver outputs on time.
• Must have substations design experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute Primary Design Engineering activities for AIS / GIS Substation projects across geographies, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Manage primary engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-bid engineering to commissioning and warranty support.
• Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables by planning man-hours, monitoring progress, and coordinating with inter-departmental and project teams.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, design calculations, vendor deliverables, and BOQs, ensuring timely submission and client approvals.
• Perform and oversee Layout Engineering, SLDs, Earthing Design, Cable Routing, Lighting Systems, Lightning Protection Systems, and Equipment Layout Engineering.
• Coordinate vendor evaluation, technical validation, factory inspections, and technical discussions with procurement and supply chain teams.
• Lead and mentor Design Engineers and Draughtspersons, driving productivity and quality while meeting schedules.
• Provide technical clarifications to clients and internal stakeholders, support site teams, and resolve design-related issues.
• Utilize MS Office and Dialux; exposure to ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD is a plus.

QUALIFICATION:

MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND INDUSTRY PREFERENCE:

• 7–10 years of experience in Primary Design Engineering for Substation projects involving AIS/ GIS systems.
• Proven experience in handling primary engineering activities across multiple phases ofsubstation projects, including design, execution support, and commissioning assistance.
• Strong knowledge of substation layouts, equipment arrangements, earthing systems, cablerouting, and associated design standards and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders,and deliver quality outputs within project timelines.
• MUST: SUBSTATION DESIGN EXPERIENCE.
