Job summary

ABB is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer for metals process applications in India. You will act as a design authority, delivering engineering, software development, FAT, commissioning, and service activities across projects.

You will prepare motor lists, I/O lists, and assist with panel design and manufacturing, ensuring timely project delivery and successful handovers. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning drive systems.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of experience in automation solutions within the metals industry.
• Extensive experience in PLC/DCS systems, application programming, and HMI development.
• Solid knowledge of automation hardware/software, communication protocols, and industrial IT systems.
• Engineering degree (B.E./B.Tech/Diploma) in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with high honors.
• Experience in engineering, commissioning, diagnosing, and servicing automation and drive systems (in cold rolling or profile mill applications).
• Clear communication skills in English and ability to collaborate effectively with customers and teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively (150–200 days/year).
