Job summary

PerkinElmer is seeking an Application specialist to provide technical pre- and post-sales support for FTIR/NIR instruments in dairy. You will develop chemometric models, train customers, and demonstrate solutions from lab to inline processes.

You will collaborate with Process Engineers and Analytical Scientists to deploy online performance indicators and ensure high-quality demonstrations across the region. Strong data analysis and programming skills are essential.

Overview

The Application person is responsible for technical pre and post-sales support activities for FTIR/NIR based instrumentation in dairy by providing technical expertise for application support, chemometric modeling, and advanced training. The individual is required to understand customer problems and how to apply our analyzers to solve them by developing the required application using the chemometric software used for the instrument by PerkinElmer.

Key Responsibilities

• Support strategic customers in Dairy for applications in milk and their product related to testing of product quality, adulteration, payment and procurement needs at collection centers.
• This position will have an integral part application/model method development and in the incorporation of new technologies to provide solutions for Benchtop models, inline monitoring, and process instrumentations. Develop and qualify on-line, in-line, and at-line methods.
• Conduct feasibility studies to determine if NIR/FTIR is an effective solution for potential clients or market-specific applications. To generate disruptive applications that aid demand generation and win at the country and regional level.
• Perform data analysis using statistics, multivariate calibration software, and spectroscopy software to develop PLS, ANN based calibration.
• Transfer and validate methods and models for real time in-process control.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and Analytical Scientists to deploy online performance indicators, implement and enable enhanced process control strategies.
• Plan and manage effective and timely high-quality demonstrations in agreement with the Account Managers business plans. Manage the full demo cycle in line with sales priorities. Drive key activities in the region for breakthrough demonstration experience
• Effectively communicate results regarding applications both to specific clients and to a broader audience at technical platforms and within R&D/chemometric team of PerkinElmer.
• Provide training to clients on the use of the instrumentation and software (at site or remotely if required).
• Develop and capture potential intellectual property as invention disclosures and if appropriate work with an attorney to help submit patent applications.
• Recognize new market opportunities for NIR/FTIR and develop technical programs which support the development of these markets and develop specific methods for chosen markets.
• Address all the possible calibration requirements and adjustments to existing models as required by the clients and authorities.
• Understanding and playing effective role in data collection for required model development. The target candidate for this role is expected to show strong lab skills, have deep understanding chemometric concepts, have comprehensive data analysis skills and be capable of delivering scientific presentations and writing technical reports, Application notes .Coordinate and participate in cross-functional projects.
• Demonstrated experience with statistics, chemometrics, programming and data modeling packages such as Matlab, Python, Unscrambler, Eigenvector, Winisi,Opus,Beamex etc.(at least one).
• The ability to work successfully in both a team environment as well as independently is essential
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities, and maintain timelines for multiple projects is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills is must.
• Focus on continuous learning and developing their scientific network to guarantee best-in-class knowledge and brand recognition within the market. Nurture, maintain and develop Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) at territory level
