We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to build and lead the product side of Amar Ujala's education business. Education is one of the group's key growth areas, and we want to use technology, AI and data to improve outcomes for students, teachers and schools across North India.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to shape a business, not only manage a backlog. You will set the product direction for the vertical, decide what we build, buy or partner on, and take products from idea to launch to scale. You will be the founding product person for education, working closely with business leadership, sales, schools, partners and engineering.
The vertical already has an established set of school and student programs and a large base of schools and students. The next phase is to turn these into connected, data-driven products, and to take the vertical into new areas. As the business grows, so will the scope of this role and the team around it.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the product vision and roadmap for the education vertical, aligned with business goals for growth and revenue.
- Own the existing education products end to end. This includes improving engagement, lead quality and conversion, and making sure products are used after registration, not only at sign-up.
- Identify new opportunities across assessments, career guidance, learning and school services, and build the case for each.
- Manage integration and coordination with vendors and technology partners where products are built or run externally.
- Make build, buy and partner decisions, and evaluate vendors and technology partners on cost, time and fit.
- Lead the move from separate products to a connected platform, with one view of every student and school across all our programs.
- Work with central product and engineering teams on shared layers such as login, identity, payments, subscriptions and the customer data platform.
- Make sure student data, much of which belongs to minors, is collected and used with proper consent and in line with data protection requirements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 4 to 5 years of experience in product management, preferably in edtech. Experience in media or consumer digital products is also relevant.
- Experience shipping products to real users and measuring whether they worked.
- Comfort with data: working with large and messy datasets, writing basic SQL or using analytics tools, and understanding data models.
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, APIs and technical trade-offs. Comfortable working closely with a small engineering team.
- Clear written communication. Your PRDs should be read the same way by engineers, sales teams and leadership.
- Ability to manage stakeholders across business, sales, vendors and partners, and to hold a position when the data supports it.
- Comfort working in an early-stage, unstructured environment and setting up process where there is none.
What Can the Candidate Expect in Return?
- A founding product role in a growing business, where you set the agenda rather than inherit a backlog.
- Work that reaches lakhs of students and a large network of schools across North India.
- Close working access to senior leadership, and a real say in where the education business goes next.
- A role that grows with the vertical, with the opportunity to build and lead a team.
