We are building the next version of our Content Management System (CMS), our Ad Booking System, and the tools connected to them. As Product Manager, you will own these products end to end. You will work with editors, reporters, ad sales, ad operations, and engineering, and you will decide where we build in-house and where we buy or integrate existing solutions.
This is an individual contributor role. You will not manage a team, but you will lead product decisions across several stakeholder groups.
What you will do
Product strategy
- Track how media tech, CMS, and ad tech products are changing, and what competing publishers are doing, with a focus on what is relevant to a Hindi newsroom.
- Run working sessions with editorial, ad sales, and operations teams to identify where time is lost and where errors happen.
- Build and maintain a prioritised roadmap across CMS, ad booking, and related tools, with clear reasoning for what is built now, later, or not at all.
- Evaluate build vs buy for each major capability: compare vendors, assess integration effort and cost, and make a recommendation.
Requirements and scoping
- Work closely with editorial, ad sales, and operations teams to understand their workflows and requirements. Spend time with desks and sales teams to see how work is actually done, not only how it is described.
- Write PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and wireframes that engineers can build from without repeated clarification.
- Identify where AI can reduce manual work in practical ways, such as tagging, headline and summary suggestions, Hindi-English translation, image selection, and ad inventory forecasting. Define how each use case will be evaluated before it goes live.
Execution with engineering
- Plan and prioritise epics and sprints and run backlog grooming with engineering.
- Use GitHub to follow delivery: track issues and pull requests, understand what is in progress, and check that what is being built matches the spec.
- Work daily with engineering and data science teams to clarify requirements, unblock work, and own UAT before release.
- For bought or vendor solutions, manage integration, configuration, and vendor coordination.
- Drive adoption after launch through training, feedback, and fixes based on what users actually struggle with.
What success looks like
- Editors and reporters spend less time and fewer steps getting a story from draft to published, across all editions.
- Ad bookings are faster to create and have fewer errors and manual corrections.
- New CMS and ad booking features are adopted by desks and sales teams, not worked around.
- AI features in production show measurable time saved or quality improvement.
- Build vs buy decisions are documented with clear reasoning on cost, time, and fit.
What we are looking for
- 2 to 4 years in product management, ideally in media or publishing, SaaS, ad tech, or AI-driven products.
- Experience shipping products to real users and measuring whether they worked.
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle. Comfortable working closely with engineers, discussing APIs, data models, and technical trade-offs.
- Comfortable using GitHub to follow issues, pull requests, and release progress.
- Ability to break down complex problems and use data to make decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication. Able to work with senior editors and sales leaders, and to influence decisions without direct authority.
- Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and sprint planning.
Good to have
- Familiarity with headless CMS architectures and newsroom workflows.
- Understanding of ad booking, ad serving, or programmatic advertising.
- Experience evaluating and integrating vendor or SaaS products.
- Experience shipping LLM-based features, including prompt design and output evaluation.
- Ability to read and write Hindi.
