Job summary

ADP Private Limited in Pune is seeking a Sr. BI Developer to design interactive Power BI and Tableau dashboards, translating complex business needs into actionable insights.

You will build semantic models, write advanced SQL on Databricks, and mentor others in data modelling and DAX best practices while aligning with Agile practices and BI governance.

The role requires 4–6 years of BI experience, strong analytical abilities, stakeholder communication, and a passion for scalable data delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or engineering degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Postgraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science / Data Science is an added advantage.
• Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and Databricks certifications are a plus.
• 4–6 years hands-on experience in BI project lifecycle: requirements gathering, dashboard design, development, deployment and support.
• Strong Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modelling) and Tableau expertise.
• Advanced SQL skills with Databricks (Databricks SQL, Delta tables).
• Semantic modelling and dimensional design (star schemas, fact/dimension tables, RLS).
• Data visualization and storytelling, including KPI design and executive reporting.
• Familiarity with DevOps (GIT, CI/CD) and BI admin.
• Hands-on Alteryx Designer for data blending, preparation, and workflow automation.
• Experience configuring on-prem data gateways and Tableau Bridge for scheduled refreshes.
• Python for data preparation and automation is preferred.
• Experience with 4–5 project closures.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops interactive Power BI and Tableau dashboards and reports, translating complex business requirements into intuitive insights.
• Builds and optimizes semantic models with DAX measures and time-intelligence logic; mentors others in data modelling and DAX best practices.
• Writes and tunes complex SQL on Databricks; collaborates with data engineering on curated gold-layer datasets for reporting.
• Maintains Alteryx workflows to blend, cleanse, and transform data from multiple sources, automating data preparation and recurring reporting.
• Leverages Databricks for BI delivery; connects Power BI and Tableau to Databricks SQL Warehouses and builds reporting views on gold-layer Delta tables.
• Optimizes report performance using DAX Studio, aggregations, and incremental refresh.
• Manages deployment and governance of BI assets, including workspaces, Git-based deployment pipelines, refresh schedules, and RLS.
• Configures and manages data gateways, installation, clustering for HA, data source setup, user access, and refresh troubleshooting.
• Defines KPIs and metrics with stakeholders, ensuring consistent definitions and data accuracy.
• Innovates BI methodologies with reusable templates and design standards; mentors others in best practices.
• Demonstrates problem-solving and project ownership, driving projects end-to-end.
• Communicates insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership, and participates in Agile ceremonies.

Required Skills

• Bachelors / Engineering degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Postgraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science / Data Science is an added advantage.
• Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and Databricks certifications are a plus.
• Strong foundation in BI, data analytics and reporting, with a minimum of 4‑6 years of hands‑on experience in requirement gathering, dashboard design, development, deployment, and support of BI projects.
• Strong expertise in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling) and Tableau (calculated fields, LOD expressions).
• Advanced SQL skills, with hands‑on experience on Databricks (Databricks SQL, Delta tables).
• Proficient in semantic modeling and dimensional design (star schemas, fact/dimension tables, RLS).
• Good understanding of data visualization and storytelling, including KPI design and executive reporting.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices (GIT, CI/CD) and Power BI Service / Tableau Server administration.
• Hands‑on experience with Alteryx Designer for data blending, preparation, and workflow automation, including scheduling and publishing workflows via Alteryx Server.
• Experience configuring on‑premises data gateways (gateway clusters, data source connections, credentials) and Tableau Bridge for scheduled refreshes.
• Working knowledge of Python for data preparation and automation is preferred.
• Experience with 4–5 relevant project closures.

• Leverages Databricks for BI delivery, connecting Power BI and Tableau to Databricks SQL Warehouses and building reporting views on gold‑layer Delta tables governed through Unity Catalog.
• Optimizes report performance using DAX Studio, aggregations, and incremental refresh.
• Manages deployment and governance of BI assets, including workspaces, GIT‑based deployment pipelines, refresh schedules, and row‑level security.
• Configures and manages data gateways, including installation, clustering for high availability, data source and credential setup, user access, and troubleshooting refresh failures.
