Job description

Purpose of the role

Build and maintain systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

Accountabilities

Build and maintenance of data architecture pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.

Design and implementation of data warehouses and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to required security measures.

Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.

Collaboration with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.

Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change; plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements; and address policy breaches.

If managing a team, define jobs and responsibilities, plan future needs, counsel employees, influence department operations, and achieve budget and schedule goals.

Senior Platform Engineer – Vice President

Lead the evolution of the Reference Data Services function. Engineer, develop, and support platform capabilities across cloud and on‑prem environments, working closely with front‑office developers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering leadership and platform development across AWS and on‑prem.
• Collaboration with quantitative and strategy teams.
• Hands‑on development with Python and optional Java.
• Management of AWS services (S3, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda, ECS, IAM, KMS, API Gateway, Step Functions, MSK, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Support for a small engineering team.
• Experience with on‑prem Hadoop and Kubernetes.
• Cost management and optimization in AWS.
• Understanding of front‑office developer requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in software/data engineering; preferably in platform or infrastructure roles.
• Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with Java is a plus.
• Deep experience with AWS services.
• Experience with on‑prem Hadoop and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cost management and optimisation tools in AWS.
• Knowledge of quantitative or front‑office development is a strong plus.
