Job summary

Kotak Mahindra Bank is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for VMware Kubernetes Services (VKS) in Mumbai. The role focuses on implementing, administering, and operating VKS-based container platforms, with strong enterprise Kubernetes expertise as a core hiring criterion.

You will deploy and upgrade Kubernetes clusters, design highly available environments, automate with Shell/Bash, Python, and Ansible, and handle Day-2 operations, DR readiness, and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Kubernetes control plane, networking, storage, ingress, certificates, and workload issues.
• Administer TAS/Pivotal Cloud Foundry environments.
• Develop automation using Shell/Bash, Python, and Ansible roles/playbooks.
• Own Day-2 operations including incidents, changes, problems, service requests, vulnerability remediation, RCAs, and major/minor fixes.
• Participate in DR readiness assessments, planning, execution, validation, and reporting.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Kubernetes Platform Engineer to support, engineer, and operate VMware Kubernetes Services (VKS) environments. The role will primarily focus on implementation, administration, and operational support of VKS-based container platforms. Given that VKS is relatively new, strong enterprise Kubernetes expertise is the primary hiring criterion.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, administer, and support VMware Kubernetes Services (VKS).
• Perform Kubernetes cluster deployment, upgrades, patching, scaling, and lifecycle management.
• Design, deploy, and operate highly available Kubernetes clusters.
• Troubleshoot Kubernetes control plane, networking, storage, ingress, certificates, and workload issues.
• Administer Tanzu Application Services (TAS)/Pivotal Cloud Foundry environments.
• Develop automation using Shell/Bash, Python, and Ansible roles/playbooks.
• Own Day-2 operations including incidents, changes, problems, service requests, vulnerability remediation (VACA closure), RCAs, and major/minor fixes.
• Participate in DR readiness assessments, planning, execution, validation, and reporting.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong Kubernetes administration and engineering experience.
• Linux/Unix administration (RHEL, Linux, Ubuntu).
• Shell/Bash scripting and Python scripting.

Desirable Skills

Preferred Profile

• 6+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering experience.
• Strong Kubernetes-focused background with ability to quickly adapt to VKS.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments.

Hiring Note This role is centered on VMware Kubernetes Services (VKS). Direct VKS experience is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates with deep Kubernetes administration, design, implementation, automation, and operational experience will be strongly preferred.
