Job summary

VIAVI Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer to manage large-scale Kubernetes environments in Chennai. You will deploy, configure, and troubleshoot distributed systems while advancing security, automation, and delivery maturity.

You will mentor junior engineers and maintain internal R&D platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to scale, reliability, and security across OSS/BSS and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in DevOps, DevSecOps, SRE or Platform Engineering.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production at scale.
• Core tech: Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, GitOps, Jenkins/Bamboo, Git.
• Strong IaC and automation knowledge.
• Experience building secure delivery pipelines (DevSecOps).
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Summary

We are seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer with over 9+ years of expertise in managing large-scale, production-grade Kubernetes environments. The role involves deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting distributed systems, driving improvements in solution delivery maturity, and implementing DevSecOps practices to ensure secure and efficient pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD/GitOps, Jenkins/Bamboo, and Git, along with a solid background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation. In addition to technical proficiency, the role requires mentoring junior engineers, maintaining internal R&D platforms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance scalability, reliability, and security. Candidates should demonstrate proven success in OSS/BSS, CI/CD platform management, and DevSecOps process enhancement, with excellent troubleshooting skills and strong communication abilities to engage both technical and business stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Key Responsibilities Kubernetes Management: Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot large-scale distributed Kubernetes-based systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Solution Delivery: Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing solution delivery maturity within the organization, improving processes, automation, and overall efficiency.
• Team Coaching: Mentor and coach junior engineers, breaking down complex work into manageable tasks and ensuring high-quality execution.
• Platform Maintenance: Maintain and support internal R&D platform tools, including CI/CD platforms (e.g., Bamboo, Jenkins), testing labs, and related infrastructure.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: 7+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering roles.
• Kubernetes Experience: Extensive hands-on experience managing Kubernetes environments in production at scale.
• Core Technologies: Kubernetes (K8s) Helm ArgoCD / GitOps Jenkins and/or Bamboo Git version control systems
• IaC & Automation: Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation principles.
• DevSecOps: Experience implementing secure software delivery pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Troubleshooting: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
• Desired Experience Extensive experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes-based systems at scale. Proven track record of enhancing DevSecOps processes and solution delivery maturity. Experience in mentoring junior engineers and leading teams on technical projects. Strong understanding of version control using Git.
