Job summary

Gradiant is seeking a Senior Piping Designer in Chennai to join our engineering team. The role focuses on piping design for water treatment plants, with emphasis on both conceptual and detailed design using AutoCAD Plant 3D.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of international piping codes, experience with P&IDs, 3D modeling, and ensuring clash-free designs in coordination with multiple disciplines. Strong communication in English is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in piping design for water treatment plants.

Responsibilities

• Must be capable of providing conceptual as well as detailed design drawings of water treatment plant piping.
• Requires experience with specification of piping, piping components valves, instruments, vessels, and other mechanical equipment.
• Creating Piping Routing in AutoCAD Plant 3D with respect to P&IDs and optimizing the Skids & Plant piping.
• Develop 3D Models and ensure clash-free models in coordination with all other discipline requirements.
• Preparation of Equipment layout, Skid piping GA, 2D piping layout, Isometrics, MTOs, pipe support drawings, Pipe rack design input, and Civil and vendor drawing reviews.
• Should have experience with piping design standards with ANSI/IS/ASME piping specifications and layouts for water treatment plants.
• Confirm compliance with customer specifications for equipment and material types.
• Review and approve 3D model, drawings and documents from 3rd party design companies.
• Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that all piping designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with Mechanical design manager to plan and execute projects on time and on budgeted manhours.

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping design for water treatment plants, with expertise in both conceptual and detailed design. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, knowledge of international piping codes, and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines to deliver high-quality, clash-free designs.

• Coordination with inter discipline, Vendor and clients
• Ensuring engineering and design quality, technical accuracy of drawings, material quantities etc.
• Collaborate with Mechanical design manager to plan and execute projects on time and on budgeted manhours.
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and progress assessments to ensure project objectives are met.
• Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that all piping designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Conduct quality control reviews to verify design integrity and safety.

Requirements

• BE Mechanical / Diploma in mechanical engineering
• Minimum 4-7 years experience in relevant feild for Senior Piping Designer
• Required Piping Knowledge and AutoCAD Plant 3D / Revit / Austodesk Navis Manager Software
