Job summary

Obeetee is seeking a Senior Painter for its craft studio in Kolkata. The role focuses on translating design references into precise, consistent colour and brushwork, maintaining the signature finish that Obeetee is known for.

You will hand paint and finish studio pieces, mix paints for repeatable colour accuracy, and mentor junior painters while coordinating with the design team on new patterns and finishes.

• Maintain brushes, tools and paint stock, and flag material shortages ahead of production schedules.
• Mentor junior painters on technique and studio quality standards.
• Coordinate with the design team to interpret new patterns and finishes as the studio's range develops.

Role Purpose

The Senior Painter is responsible for hand painting and finishing work at the Obeetee Craft Studio, translating design references into precise, consistent colour and brushwork on studio pieces, and upholding the finish quality the Obeetee name is known for.

• Execute hand painting and surface finishing on studio pieces to the design brief, matching colour, tone and texture references exactly.
• Mix and calibrate paints and pigments to achieve consistent, repeatable colour matches across a production run.
• Inspect finished work for quality, correcting flaws before a piece is passed downstream.
• Maintain brushes, tools and paint stock, and flag material shortages ahead of production schedules.

Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated hand painting or fine finishing skill, built over at least two to three years in a craft, dcor or artisanal production environment.
• Sound colour sense and a steady, controlled hand for detailed work.
• Patience and consistency across repetitive, quality-critical tasks.
• Comfortable working to design references and briefs prepared by others.
