Job summary

Fluence in Bengaluru seeks a Senior OT/Network Engineer to lead project delivery for EMЕA-focused solutions. You will serve as SME on cybersecurity, networking, and architecture, and guide integration with TSO SCADA systems across multiple deployments.

The role requires 5+ years in OT networking within energy infrastructure, strong OSI and VPN expertise, and fluency in English. Expect collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams to meet performance and security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, or computer science (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of OT/networking experience in power utility or related industry with EMS/SCADA exposure.
• Expertise in OSI layer models and network configurations.
• Proficient with remote access VPNs, site-to-site VPNs, routers, firewalls, switches (Cisco + industrial gear), SD-WAN, Meraki.
• Proficient with Linux, Python and shell scripting; GitHub usage.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi, Proxmox) and storage (SAN/NAS).
• Understanding OT cybersecurity principles (IEC 62443, NIS2, network segmentation, IAM).
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA).
• Knowledge of AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible).
• Strong communication in English; German or other languages beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead project team to realize requirements as SME on Cybersecurity, Network, Architecture and devices.
• Oversee integration of Fluence BESS control with TSO SCADA systems; lead network configuration and cybersecurity.
• Document network infrastructure, protocols, links, and cybersecurity strategies for current and future projects.
• Assess and communicate network/cybersecurity challenges; manage stakeholder communication.
• Interface with clients and sub-contractors to ensure network compliance during Tender and Execution phases.
• Develop and execute standardized FAT/SAT tests; participate in hands-on lab testing of prototypes.
• Keep updated on Fluence products and network/cybersecurity developments at site and enterprise levels.
• Manage change-control procedures and related documentation.
• Stay current with industry best practices to ensure world-class network and cybersecurity practices.
• Provide updates to leadership and contribute to KPI performance reviews.
• Contribute to safety KPI execution as part of project delivery.

Tasks

• Leading the Project team on realization of the Project specific requirements with existing functionalities: serve as the Subject Matter Expert regarding Cybersecurity, Network, Architecture and associated devices.
• Lead the integration of the Fluence BESS control system into the Transmission System Operator (TSO) SCADA systems: lead the Network configuration, communication interfaces, cybersecurity requirements, to meet TSO / Customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation of for future and existing project on Network infrastructure including hardware, protocols, communication links and cybersecurity strategies.
• Involved in central network/cybersecurity for energy storage solutions, including guidance, evaluation and analysis of network/cybersecurity challenges. Ensuring network and communication security vulnerabilities are acknowledged and communicated to affected stakeholders.
• Manage interface to Client and sub-contractor to ensure Networks compliance and lead concept during Tender and Project Execution phase.
• Develop standardized test procedures and execute tests (FAT / SAT) to reduce commissioning time, and perform testing, including involvement in hands on lab testing during evaluations of prototype systems.
• Keep current with all Company products, developments, and projects as they apply to the Network at both site and enterprise levels.
• Maintain strict management of change control procedures and documentation.
• Remain current on industry best practices and updated technology to ensure the company is provided world-class Network and Cybersecurity practices.
• Support company strategy and provide relevant reporting and updates to Company leadership as needed.
• Develop and recommend performance management and feedback to current Control System technical support KPI’s.
• Executing tasks related to Fluence' safety KPIs

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science (or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in OT / Networking with a power utility or related industry and direct experience in the electricity transmission/distribution sector with EMS/SCADA systems.
• Expert of OSI layer models and experience in design and deploying network configurations.
• Expert in remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, Routers, Firewalls, Switches (Cisco + industrial equipment), SD-WAN, Meraki.
• Experience in Linux based systems and commands, High-level programming languages such as Python and shell/bash scripting as well as with Github.
• Experience with virtualization infrastructure VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Proxmox, Storage technologies (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster recovery architectures
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and standards (IEC 62443, NIS2, Network segmentation and DMZ design, Identity and Access Management (RBAC/MFA))
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, etc.)
• Knowledge about AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible).
