Job summary

Fluence in Bangalore, India seeks a Senior OT/Network Engineer to lead network and cybersecurity for EMS/SCADA integrations with TSO systems. You will drive architecting, testing, and deployment of secure networks.

You will collaborate with clients and sub-contractors, ensure change control, and stay updated on Fluence products. Fluence offers a growth-focused, customer-centric environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/IT/CE.
• 5+ years OT/Networking exp in power/EMS/SCADA.
• Expertise in OSI layers, network design, and deployments.
• VPNs, Routers, Firewalls, Switches, SD-WAN, Meraki.
• Linux-based systems and Python/bash scripting.
• Virtualization: VMware ESXi/vCenter, Proxmox; SAN/NAS.
• OT cybersecurity: IEC 62443, RBAC/MFA, DMZ, NIS2.
• Industrial protocols: IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA.
• AWS, Docker, Jenkins, Ansible experience.
• Solutions mindset; strong communication; English fluency.
• German or other languages are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead project team to realize requirements; SME for cybersecurity, network, architecture.
• Integrate Fluence BESS control with TSO/SCADA; configure networks and interfaces.
• Document network infra and cybersecurity strategies.
• Address network/cybersecurity challenges; communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Interface with client and sub-contractors; lead during Tender and Execution.
• Develop and run FAT/SAT tests; assist lab testing.
• Stay updated on Fluence products and network applications.
• Maintain change control procedures and docs.
• Stay current on industry best practices and tech.
• Provide reporting to leadership; support KPI initiatives.

Tasks

• Leading the Project team on realization of the Project specific requirements with existing functionalities: serve as the Subject Matter Expert regarding Cybersecurity, Network, Architecture and associated devices.
• Lead the integration of the Fluence BESS control system into the Transmission System Operator (TSO) SCADA systems: lead the Network configuration, communication interfaces, cybersecurity requirements, to meet TSO / Customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation of for future and existing project on Network infrastructure including hardware, protocols, communication links and cybersecurity strategies.
• Involved in central network/cybersecurity for energy storage solutions, including guidance, evaluation and analysis of network/cybersecurity challenges. Ensuring network and communication security vulnerabilities are acknowledged and communicated to affected stakeholders.
• Manage interface to Client and sub-contractor to ensure Networks compliance and lead concept during Tender and Project Execution phase.
• Develop standardized test procedures and execute tests (FAT / SAT) to reduce commissioning time, and perform testing, including involvement in hands on lab testing during evaluations of prototype systems.
• Keep current with all Company products, developments, and projects as they apply to the Network at both site and enterprise levels.
• Maintain strict management of change control procedures and documentation.
• Remain current on industry best practices and updated technology to ensure the company is provided world-class Network and Cybersecurity practices.
• Support company strategy and provide relevant reporting and updates to Company leadership as needed.
• Develop and recommend performance management and feedback to current Control System technical support KPI’s.
• Executing tasks related to Fluence’ safety KPIs

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science (or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in OT / Networking with a power utility or related industry and direct experience in the electricity transmission/distribution sector with EMS/SCADA systems.
• Expert of OSI layer models and experience in design and deploying network configurations.
• Expert in remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, Routers, Firewalls, Switches (Cisco + industrial equipment), SD-WAN, Meraki.
• Experience in Linux based systems and commands, High-level programming languages such as Python and shell/bash scripting as well as with Github.
• Experience with virtualization infrastructure VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Proxmox, Storage technologies (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster recovery architectures
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and standards (IEC 62443, NIS2, Network segmentation and DMZ design, Identity and Access Management (RBAC/MFA))
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, etc.)
• Knowledge about AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible).
• Solution-orientated mindset
• Good communication skills
• Fluency in English
• German / other language skills beneficial
