Job summary

Fluence is seeking a Senior OT/Network Engineer (EMEA Delivery) to lead project teams in Bengaluru, acting as SME for cybersecurity, network, and architecture for energy storage solutions.

You will drive integration with TSO SCADA, develop network documentation, oversee testing, and maintain change controls while aligning with industry best practices. This role reports to Solution Engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science (or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant OT/Networking experience in a power utility or related industry and direct experience in the electricity transmission/distribution sector with EMS/SCADA systems
• Expert in OSI layer models and network configurations
• Experience with remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, routers, firewalls, switches (Cisco + industrial equipment), SD-WAN, Meraki
• Experience with Linux based systems and commands, Python and shell/bash scripting, and GitHub
• Experience with virtualization infrastructure VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Proxmox, Storage (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster recovery architectures
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and standards (IEC 62443, NIS2, IAM)
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA)
• Knowledge about AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible)
• Solution-oriented mindset
• Good communication skills
• Fluency in English
• German / other language skills beneficial

Responsibilities

• Lead the Project team on realization of project requirements with existing functionalities for cybersecurity, network, architecture
• Lead integration of Fluence BESS control system into TSO SCADA systems, network configuration and cybersecurity requirements
• Develop and maintain documentation for network infrastructure, protocols, links and cybersecurity strategies
• Oversee central network/cybersecurity for energy storage solutions and communicate vulnerabilities to stakeholders
• Manage interface to Client and sub-contractors to ensure networks compliance during Tender and Project Execution
• Develop standardized test procedures and execute FAT/SAT and hands-on lab testing during evaluations
• Keep current with Fluence products, developments and projects at site and enterprise levels
• Maintain strict change control procedures and documentation
• Stay updated on industry best practices and updated technology for world-class Network and Cybersecurity practices
• Support company strategy and provide reporting to leadership
• Develop and recommend performance management KPIs for Control System technical support
• Execute tasks related to Fluence safety KPIs

Tasks

• Leading the Project team on realization of the Project specific requirements with existing functionalities: serve as the Subject Matter Expert regarding Cybersecurity, Network, Architecture and associated devices.

• Lead the integration of the Fluence BESS control system into the Transmission System Operator (TSO) SCADA systems: lead the Network configuration, communication interfaces, cybersecurity requirements, to meet TSO / Customer requirements.

• Develop and maintain documentation of for future and existing project on Network infrastructure including hardware, protocols, communication links and cybersecurity strategies.

• Involved in central network/cybersecurity for energy storage solutions, including guidance, evaluation and analysis of network/cybersecurity challenges. Ensuring network and communication security vulnerabilities are acknowledged and communicated to affected stakeholders.

• Manage interface to Client and sub-contractor to ensure Networks compliance and lead concept during Tender and Project Execution phase.

• Develop standardized test procedures and execute tests (FAT / SAT) to reduce commissioning time, and perform testing, including involvement in hands on lab testing during evaluations of prototype systems.

• Keep current with all Company products, developments, and projects as they apply to the Network at both site and enterprise levels.

• Maintain strict management of change control procedures and documentation.

• Remain current on industry best practices and updated technology to ensure the company is provided world-class Network and Cybersecurity practices.

• Support company strategy and provide relevant reporting and updates to Company leadership as needed.

• Develop and recommend performance management and feedback to current Control System technical support KPI’s.

• Executing tasks related to Fluence’ safety KPIs

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science (or equivalent)

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in OT / Networking with a power utility or related industry and direct experience in the electricity transmission/distribution sector with EMS/SCADA systems.

• Expert of OSI layer models and experience in design and deploying network configurations.

• Expert in remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, Routers, Firewalls, Switches (Cisco + industrial equipment), SD-WAN, Meraki.

• Experience in Linux based systems and commands, High-level programming languages such as Python and shell/bash scripting as well as with Github.

• Experience with virtualization infrastructure VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Proxmox, Storage technologies (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster recovery architectures

• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and standards (IEC 62443, NIS2, Network segmentation and DMZ design, Identity and Access Management (RBAC/MFA))

• Familiarity with industrial protocols (IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, etc.)

• Knowledge about AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible).
