We are seeking a dynamic Quality General Manager to lead the Quality Department for our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Top Layer Assembly (TLA) operations. This role involves shaping the quality strategy and vision, managing quality leaders/shift engineers/technicians, build quality team for TSAT's start up plants and driving performance to meet departmental KPIs. The ideal candidate excels in built-in quality execution, fostering a transformative quality culture, and safeguarding customer and company interests in high-stakes scenarios-prioritising quality over expedited shipments.
Lead enterprise quality strategy with built-in quality principles to achieve first-pass yield, low defect rates, and high customer satisfaction. Mentor and develop CQE, IQC, IPQC, and OQC leaders, engineers, and technicians through performance management, capability building, and succession planning. Manage end-to-end quality requirements including customer-specific form, fit, and function, NPI qualification, mass production ramp-up, and customer complaint resolution across IQC, IPQC, and OQC.
Drive cultural transformation as a change leader, embedding accountability, continuous improvement, and a zero-defect mindset across SMT and TLA operations. Champion NPI programs using APQP phase-gate governance, ensuring robust PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, and real-time SPC monitoring. Oversee quality systems and tools including 8D problem solving, MRB disposition, deviation and configuration management, and effective corrective and preventive actions.
Lead data-driven root cause analysis using scientific methods such as 5-Why, fishbone, DOE, and capability analysis, facilitating objective cross-functional collaboration with Engineering and Operations. Provide hands-on expertise in SMT and TLA processes including laser marking, solder paste printing and stencil control, Poka-Yoke implementation, SPI, vacuum reflow, AOI/AXI, ICT testing, thermal interface materials, screw fastening, and automated cable insertion.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ESD ANSI/ESD S20.20 through audit leadership, recertification, and supplier quality alignment. Balance shipment commitments with quality integrity while driving sustainable, data-backed improvements for high-reliability PCBA and TLA products.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electronics, or related field); advanced certifications in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ CQE) preferred.
15+ years in quality leadership within SMT/PCBA manufacturing, with proven track record in OSAT, EMS, or automotive/aerospace sectors.
