Job summary

COLT Technology Services India Pvt Ltd is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead network transformation engineering. The role focuses on data discovery, analytics and multi-technology planning to drive cost-effective network modernization.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on migration strategies, business cases, and network lifecycle activities, with a hybrid work setup in a Telco environment.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in a telco service provider environment.
• Awareness/exposure to vendor equipment: WDM (Ciena/Nokia/Infinera/ADVA), Ethernet, IP (Cisco/Ciena/Nokia/Juniper).
• Experience in planning and delivering network service migrations within a live network environment.
• Domain expertise (Networks – Optical & IP).
• Knowledge of Colt’s product portfolios and end-to-end delivery.
• Nice to have VBA, Power BI, Python, Qlik.

Responsibilities

• Data Discovery, Analysis and visualization w.r.t Network Planning of transformation programs with multi-technology platforms.
• Drive city strategy discussions, form agreements and prepare business cases with financial justification.
• Network Analytics, technical design and implementation for transformation programs (Node programme, Network Life Cycle, EoL, Migrations).
• Deliver network discovery and service analytics methods aligned with lifecycle management.
• Deliver business case supporting documentation (BOM, MOP).
• Provide regular delivery progress reporting per project requirements.
• Drive development of migration approaches aligned to technologies and sites.
• Produce planned and updated project and summary reports with cost breakdowns.
• Manage workflows for migration planning and execution of migration activities.

Why we need this role

Performs key network transformation activities to contribute to impact assessment, HLD and costing and build of Colt’s network.

Data Discovery, Analysis and visualization w.r.t Network Planning of transformation programs having multi-technology and multi-era telecommunication platforms with alignment and governance of Colt Engineering guidelines

What you will do

Data Discovery, Analysis and visualization w.r.t Network Planning of transformation programs having multi-technology and multi-era telecommunication platforms with alignment and governance of Colt Engineering guidelines.

Drive city strategy discussions, come up with agreements and follow through on identified opportunities in preparation of business cases, setting the financial justification and obtaining approval from the key stakeholders

Network Analytics, technical design and implementation for network transformation programs e.g. Node programme, Network Life Cycle, EoL, Migrations etc.

Deliver Network discovery and service analytics methods and database, aligned with network life cycle management for longer term Network strategy

Deliver Business case supporting documentation e.g. BOM, MOP etc.

Provide regular delivery progress reporting as per project and programme requirements

Drive development of migration approaches aligned to technologies and specific network sites.

Produce planned and updated project and summary reports, including cost breakdowns and summaries

Manage workflows for technical migration planning and execution of migration activities, covering network infrastructure and customer service migrations Process development

What we’re looking for

• 07-10 years’ experience in a telco service provider environment,planning/configuring/documenting network assets and inventory.
• Demonstrate awareness/exposure to vendor equipment: WDM (Ciena/Nokia/Infinera/ADVA), Ethernet, IP(Cisco/Ciena/Nokia/Juniper).
• Experience of planning and delivering network service migrations within a live network environment
• Domain expertise (Networks – Optical & IP).
• Knowledge of the key technologies and architectures deployed in the Colt network (LDN, NSN MSP, M-MSP, IP etc.)
• Experience in planning, deployment and migration of large-scale network projects like – Optical WDM technology, GPON/FTTH network, IP-MPLS Network and Fiber network etc.
• Proficient in MS-Excel, MS-Power Point and MS-Visio.
• Ability to collect the Network data from various network & data base tools like – OHS, ARM, Seibel, CNMT, CEOS, Helix and other OSS/BSS tools and streamline the Network & services information to collect the – customer terminating services, internal services, passthrough traffic & drop extended services.
• Hands on experience on physical device/Rack installation & commissioning.
• Should know about non-IT component use to build a Telecom site like – Rack, ODF, CTP Panel, Fiber Panel, Optical Patch Cords, Network cabling, Power cabling, lager, cable tries, Power & Cooling requirements, Rack layout designing etc.
• Should know about the physical site layout, power requirements, Fiber laying & planning & other infra requirement to build a Telecom site like – MSC/NSE, Data centres, Pop, ILA/LDN.
• Sound knowledge of Colt’s product portfolios and how services are delivered end to end
• Added advantage if hands on VBA, Power BI, Python, Qlik etc.
• Experience of writing business cases and preparing cost calculations for big transformation projects like node exits, city strategies
• Innovative and motivated – ability to think “out of the box”
• Conversant with project management methods, tools and performance measures
• Desirable: Knowledge of Colt’s internal processes and systems used for change management, delivery and network inventory management
• Desirable: Experience of writing business cases and preparing cost calculations for big projects like node exits
