Job summary

Jobtailor in Chennai seeks a senior network engineer to lead complex, large-scale design and automation in a 24/7 SaaS production environment.

You will implement Network-as-Code, build scalable CI/CD pipelines, and drive advanced SDN and container networking across multi-region setups. Strong leadership and CCIE-level skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive experience in Network Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles.
Deep focus on large-scale network design, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
Expert-level proficiency with Ansible, Terraform, Python, Netmiko, Nornir, or NAPALM.
Deep expertise with SDN and overlays, specifically VXLAN, OVN, and Project Calico.
Advanced mastery of Kubernetes networking, including CNIs, Ingress controllers, Service Mesh, and Kube-Proxy.
Expert experience with Cisco Nexus, Arista, Versa SD-WAN, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.
Knowledge of F5 BIG-IP AS3, Cloudflare APIs, and Octavia LBaaS.
Deep Linux internals and networking expertise, including namespaces, virtual interfaces, eBPF/iptables, and kernel-level routing.
CCIE-level or equivalent mastery of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and EVPN.
Experience with GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions and infrastructure TDD.
Advanced packet analysis using tcpdump/Wireshark, NetFlow, and log aggregation platforms.
Proven technical leadership, mentoring, design reviews, and cross-functional initiatives.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
VoIP, RTP, SIP peering/trunking, and SBC background highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

Operate IP networking components in a 24/7 SaaS production environment.
Design and oversee scalable CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, digital-twin dry runs, and zero-downtime network deployments.
Establish enterprise-wide Network-as-Code and GitOps workflows using Git as the source of truth.
Design reusable automation frameworks and playbooks to eliminate manual configuration and operational toil.
Design and optimize large-scale SDN and container networking across multi-region cloud and bare-metal environments.
Serve as SME/Tier 4 authority for complex network, routing, and overlay issues.
Implement telemetry, monitoring, alerting-as-code, and proactive auto-remediation.
Partner with Enterprise Designers, SRE leaders, and Platform teams on resilient, secure, multi-tenant network infrastructure.
Establish coding standards and write/review IaC using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Python, and Bash.
Lead overlay and container networking solutions including VXLAN, OVN, and Project Calico.
Automate security and traffic‑management policies across firewalls and load balancers.
Embed Security-as-Code validation gates into CI/CD pipelines.
Build automated network validation suites for routing and network health.
Drive code-based infrastructure definitions and living technical documentation.
