Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Microbiologist to manage microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and microbiology laboratory activities in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and review microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, water, and environmental samples.
- Conduct Environmental Monitoring (EM) of manufacturing and controlled areas.
- Perform Microbial Limit Test (MLT), Total Aerobic Microbial Count (TAMC), Total Yeast & Mold Count (TYMC) and other microbiological tests.
- Handle sterility testing, microbial identification, culture media preparation, growth promotion testing, and related activities.
- Maintain microbiology laboratory records, logbooks, SOPs, specifications, and test reports.
- Investigate OOS/OOT, deviations, and microbiological excursions and support CAPA implementation.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of microbial cultures, media, reagents, and laboratory equipment.
- Ensure calibration, qualification, and preventive maintenance of microbiology laboratory instruments.
- Review analytical data and ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Support method validation/verification and microbiological method transfer activities.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, data integrity, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, QA, and other departments for microbiological quality-related activities.
- Prepare the laboratory for internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Guide and train junior microbiology team members.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical microbiology and GMP practices.
- Hands‑on experience in Environmental Monitoring and microbiological testing.
- Good understanding of OOS, OOT, deviation, CAPA, and change control.
- Knowledge of microbiological laboratory equipment and documentation.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage routine microbiology laboratory activities.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing/formulation microbiology laboratories and exposure to regulatory audits will be preferred.
