Job summary

Nutanix in Bengaluru, India, is seeking an experienced Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) to join the NC2 Engineering team. You will work on large-scale distributed systems, cloud-native services, and automation platforms powering hybrid multicloud deployments for customers worldwide.

Take end-to-end ownership of features from architecture to production, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product leaders across geographies to deliver scalable, secure cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Master's degree preferred in related discipline.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure software.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core management plane powering NC2 across cloud providers.
• Architect scalable, fault-tolerant backend services for provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Drive cloud-native services with focus on scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
• Lead design discussions and trade-off analyses for distributed systems and large-scale architectures.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, SRE, and engineering teams across geographies.

About the Team

The NC2 Engineering team is responsible for the core platform that orchestrates the lifecycle of Nutanix clusters across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. We build the services that automate cluster provisioning, lifecycle management, networking, cloud integrations, monitoring, and operational workflows, enabling customers to manage their hybrid cloud environments with simplicity and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve the core management plane that powers Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2), enabling seamless deployment, lifecycle management, and operations across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
• Architect and develop highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant backend services for cluster provisioning, networking, lifecycle management, and cloud resource orchestration
• Drive the design and implementation of cloud-native services with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence
• Lead technical design discussions and evaluate trade-offs in distributed systems, clustering, and large-scale service architectures.
• Work closely with Product Management, Architecture, SRE, and engineering teams across geographies to deliver high-quality features with predictable execution.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, architecture reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices, while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
• Take ownership of feature execution from design through deployment while maintaining a high-quality bar.

Required Skills

• Strong experience designing and building scalable distributed systems and cloud-native backend services.
• Hands-on expertise with one or more public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), including cloud networking, compute, storage, and identity services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, availability, fault tolerance, service orchestration, and resiliency patterns
• Proven experience building and shipping production-grade backend services at scale.
• Ability to independently drive projects with strong ownership and execution skills.
• Excellent collaboration skills for working with globally distributed engineering teams.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to initiate, execute, and deliver complex features end-to-end.
