Paix Services in Chennai (Guindy) is seeking an experienced Medical Coder. You will handle E/M Inpatient and Outpatient, SDS, IVR, and Inpatient DRG coding with HIPAA compliance and quality focus.

The role requires 4+ years of coding experience, CPC/CCS/CIC certification preferred, and strong knowledge of ICD10CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. You will work with US healthcare clients and support documentation improvements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records for accurate coding.
• Code SDS, IVR procedures, and Inpatient DRG encounters.

• Ensure CMS, AHA, AMA guidelines compliance with payers.
• Identify gaps and coordinate with providers for clarification.
• Apply principal/secondary diagnoses and MCC/CC in DRG.
• Maintain accuracy, productivity, and meet SLAs.
• Participate in audits, reviews, and action plans.
• Stay updated on coding changes and best practices.
• Mentor junior coders and protect PHI.

Job Title: Medical Coder Experience: Minimum 4 Years Location: Chennai (Guindy)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detailoriented Medical Coder with strong expertise across Evaluation & Management (E/M) Inpatient and Outpatient, Same Day Surgery (SDS), IVR, and Inpatient DRG coding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate code assignment in accordance with official coding guidelines, ensuring compliance, quality, and optimal reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical records.
• perform coding for SDS, IVR procedures, and Inpatient DRG encounters
• Assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10CM/PCS codes based on provider documentation
• Ensure compliance with CMS, AHA, AMA, and payerspecific coding guidelines
• Identify documentation gaps and work closely with providers/CDI teams to obtain clarifications when required
• Apply correct principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses, MCC/CC, and procedure sequencing for DRG assignment
• Maintain high accuracy, productivity, and quality standards as per SLAs
• Participate in internal audits, quality reviews, and corrective action plans
• Stay current with annual coding updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices
• Mentor and support junior coders as needed
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and strict confidentiality of patient information

Qualifications

• CPC, CCS, CIC, or equivalent AHIMA/AAPC certification - Added Advantage
• 4- 9+ years of relevant coding experience covering E/M IP, E/M OP, SDS, IVR, and IP DRG
• Prior experience in hospital-based coding environment preferred
