Job summary

Quest Global Hyderabad is seeking a Rail/Loco design engineer with 3–6 years of experience to develop detailed CATIA V5 models and 2D drawings. You will work under the team lead to create concepts, position components in the car structure, and prepare technical documentation.

Qualifications

• At least 3–6 years of design experience in the Rail/Loco/Train domain.
• Proficient in CATIA V5 for 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
• Experience in design reviews and feasibility checks.
• Ability to position models in car structures and prepare BOMs.
• Knowledge of GD&T and standard drawing practices.
• Hands-on in Enovia PLM for product data management.

Responsibilities

• Create basic concepts in 3D CATIA V5 based on team guidance.
• Develop detailed 3D models and corresponding 2D drawings.
• Organize and participate in design/verification reviews with internal and external teams.
• Ensure feasibility and production readiness, update remarks and documentation.
• Transfer models for validation and generate parts lists in the PLM system.
• Provide daily progress updates to the Concept team coordinator.
• Perform quality checks and apply engineering design principles on activities.

Job description

Job Requirements

• At least 3‑6 years’ design experience on Rail/Loco/Train domain
• Make a basic concept in 3D model using CATIA V5 based on information given by team lead
• Organizes Design / Verification reviews with internal & external team
• Verification in function of the feasibility and production‑requirements
• Adjust the basic concept in function of the Design Review information
• Finalize the 3D model in detail
• Position the model in the car structure
• Transfer the model to Designer for Validation
• Update the designer remarks in the model
• Make the 2D drawings based on the validated 3D model
• Make the parts lists and the specifications and article creation in EPR system
• Check whether the files are complete and technically and administratively correct
• Daily report to the Concept team coordinator about the progress of the project and possible problems
• Apply basic engineering design principles on each project activity
• Conduct self and team’s internal quality checks to ensure defect‑free deliverables

Work Experience

• Knowledge on rolling stock design/Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design
• Ability to independently develop detailed concepts
• Ability to perform hand calculation / analysis to just the proposed design
• Ability to support for validation of assemblies, various installations on Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design
• Ability to define component and assemblies of sub‑systems as per manufacturing & assembly concepts
• Knowledge on Tolerance stack‑up analysis and recommend feasible solutions in accordance with manufacturing capabilities
• Ability to analyse and propose retrofit solution for existing design modifications
• Capable of selecting appropriate fasteners for various assemblies
• Good drawing reading skills and dimensioning standard
• Well versed with GD&T
• Hands‑on experience on CATIA V5 and PLM platform like Enovia to create 3D models, 2D drawings and product structure
• Knowledge on manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of material properties, heat treatment and surface coating
