Job summary

Quest Global is seeking an experienced rail design engineer in Hyderabad with 3-6 years of experience in Loco/CAB design and train interiors. You will develop detailed 3D concepts using CATIA V5, create 2D drawings, and support validation of assemblies.

You will organize design/verification reviews, ensure feasibility for production, and generate BOMs and specs in the EPR-system. Daily progress updates with the concept team are required.

Qualifications

• At least 3-6 years design experience on Rail/Loco/Train domain.
• Ability to independently develop detailed concepts
• Ability to perform hand calculation/analysis for proposed designs
• Support validation of assemblies and installations on Loco CAB Design/Train interiors
• Define components and assemblies per manufacturing concepts
• Knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and feasible solutions
• Familiar with Rail industry standards for regions

Responsibilities

• Make a basic concept in 3D-model using CATIA V5 from team lead information
• Organize design/verification reviews with internal & external teams
• Verify feasibility against production requirements
• Update designer remarks in the model
• Create 2D drawings from validated 3D models
• Prepare parts lists, specifications and article creation in EPR-system
• Check files for completeness and technical/administrative correctness
• Provide daily progress reports to Concept team coordinator
• Apply basic engineering design principles on project activities
• Perform self and team internal quality checks for defect-free deliverables
• Transfer models to designers for validation

• At least 3-6 years design experience on Rail/Loco/Train domain


• Make a basic concept in 3D-model using CATIA V5 based on information given by team lead


• Organizes Design / Verification reviews with internal & external team


• Verification in function of the feasibility and production-requirements


• Adjust the basic concept in function of the Design Review information


• Finalize the 3D-model in detail


• Position the model in the car structure


• Transfer of the model to Designer for Validation


• Update the designer remarks in the model


• Make the 2D-drawings based on the validated 3D-model


• Make the parts lists and the specifications and article creation in EPR-system


• Check whether the files are complete and technically and administratively correct


• Daily report to the Concept team coordinator about the progress of the project and possible problems


• Applies basic engineering design principles on each project activity


• Conduct self and team’s internal quality checks to ensure defect free deliverables

Work Experience

• Knowledge on rolling stock design/Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design


• Ability to independently develop detailed concepts


• Ability to perform hand calculation / analysis to just the proposed design


• Ability to support for validation of assemblies, various installations on Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design


• Ability to define component and assemblies of sub-systems as per manufacturing & assembly concepts


• Knowledge on Tolerance stack-up analysis and recommend feasible solutions in accordance with manufacturing capabilities


• Ability to analyse and propose retrofit solution for existing design modifications


• Capable of selecting appropriate fasteners for various assemblies


• Good drawing reading skills and dimensioning standard


• Well versed with GD&T


• Hands-on experience on CATIA V5 and PLM platform like Enovia to create 3D models, 2D drawings and product structure


• Knowledge on manufacturing processes


• Knowledge of material properties, heat treatment and surface coating


• Knowledge on Rail industry standards for various regions
