Job summary

Dreamvu designs precision optical and imaging systems and seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead optomechanical development from concept to production. You will own detailed mechanical design, tolerances, and integration with optics and sensors.

The role emphasizes hands-on CAD, GD&T, thermal and structural analysis, and collaboration with hardware teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable electro-mechanical products.

Qualifications

• 612 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with at least 3 years on precision optical, imaging, or instrument-grade electro-mechanical products.
• Proven track record taking products from concept to mass production including tooling release.
• Optomechanical design: lens and sensor mounting, boresight and alignment retention, athermalization and CTE management, and kinematic or flexure-based mounts.
• Expert in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis (worst-case, RSS, Monte Carlo), with the judgment to allocate between manufacturing and calibration.
• Sealed enclosure design to IP ratings: O-ring and gasket design, sealing surface specification, pressure equalization, and condensation control.
• Thermal design of passively cooled, enclosed electronics - heat spreading, TIM selection, and simulation correlated to real measurements.
• FEA for static, modal, vibration, and shock, and the ability to turn a test spec into an analysis case and a design decision.
• Deep knowledge of die casting, CNC machining, injection molding, and sheet metal - design rules, achievable tolerances, and tooling economics.
• Hands-on expert in a parametric CAD suite (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) - daily modelling of complex assemblies plus manufacturing-ready detailed drawings - with PDM/PLM discipline and comfort across non-standard CAD formats.
• B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Camera module or optical instrument experience — active alignment, MTF/SFR, stray-light and baffle design, or dome engineering.
• Environmental qualification for outdoor or vehicle-mounted products: IEC 60068-2, MIL-STD-810, ISO 16750, IP69K, and salt fog.
• Simulation depth (ANSYS, Abaqus, Icepak, Flotherm, SolidWorks Flow), tolerance tools such as CETOL or 3DCS, ECAD-MCAD collaboration, and prior work in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or machine vision.
