Buro Happold is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services team in Mumbai. You will contribute to innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across complex construction projects, with an international environment and opportunities for career growth.

Key responsibilities include detailed mechanical design, HVAC systems, CAD documentation, and client collaboration, while applying Indian standards and working within a team-driven structure.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years' experience in building services design engineering.
• Experience designing HVAC systems is essential.
• Ability to take responsibility in a team-based environment and work independently.
• Proficiency with Excel, including macros.
• Good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact on projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design drawings with a focus on mechanical design (HVAC).
• Prepare technical specifications, schedules, and design development reports.
• Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
• Inform senior design team of key service/design decisions and project objectives.
• Manage project finances, monitor scope and ensure quality.
• Plan workload to meet client expectations and deadlines.
• Attend client, site, and external design team meetings.

Your next role

• Detailed design drawings with a specialisation in mechanical design - e.g. HVAC, etc.
• Prepare technical specifications and schedules and design development reports.
• Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
• Keep senior design team members informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the BuroHappold and the client are achieved.
• Manage project finances, monitor scope, and ensure quality
• Plan and organise your workload to ensure that you are meeting clients expectations.
• Attending client, site and external design team meetings.

Your Skills And Experience

• 8-12 years' experience in building services design engineering;
• Experience in HVAC Designing is a must
• Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge and understanding of Indian standards.
• Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
• Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
• Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact upon the overall project. Ideally also showing an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, IES, and Hevacomp software
• Bachelors degree or Masters degree in relevant subject.
