Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Vadodara, India, seeks a Mechanical Designer to join the Transformers business. You will translate customer requirements into robust design, produce 3D models in Creo, and prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing and SAP entries.

You will collaborate across functions and support design reviews in a fast-paced, global environment. Ideal candidates have 12–18 years of industry experience in power transformer design, strong English communication, and the ability to work with

Qualifications

  • BE/ME – Electrical/Mechanical is required.
  • 12–18 years of industry experience in engineering.
  • Experience in mechanical design of power transformers.
  • Proficiency in 2-D and 3-D CAD software such as Creo.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer requirements and prepare order-bound drawings and documents.
  • Compile project documents and address deviations in consultation with the Manager.
  • Ensure timely delivery of design specs and ERP system input with customer layouts.
  • 3D modeling of transformer with fittings and accessories in Creo.
  • Coordinate site visits for design approvals and clarifications.
  • Optimize transformer designs to meet tender and tech requirements.
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings and SAP entries within deadlines.
  • Lead design reviews with Manufacturing and Quality teams.

Mission Statement
  • Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational plan for completing an engineering-based project including Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc.
  • Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project.
  • May include preparing engineering standards, designs, and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
  • Responsibilities typically include , understand design requirements and deliver product design & engineering in a timely manner according to customer specifications and assigned KPIs
  • Problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex.
  • Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed.
  • YourResponsibilities:
Design Task:
  • Understand the customer requirements after project receipt and prepare order bound drawings and documents, making designs in line with customer specification.
  • Compile relevant documents for identified project. Identify and address deviations/issues in project document in consultation with Manager.
  • Ensure timely delivery of design specifications and generate requirement in the ERP system. Understanding Customer Specifications, Preparation & Checking of Layout & Customer Drawings (Internal layout, Cleats and leads, Outside General Arrangement / List of Fittings / Foundation Details, fabrication drawings etc.) made in discussion with Customer with Design Finalization
  • 3D Modeling of Transformer with complete fittings and accessories in Pro-E Wildfire
  • Visit to Customers place/Site for Design Approval & Clarifications.
  • Optimizing transformer designs based on tender commitments & technology requirements.
  • Preparation of manufacturing drawings following with cable wiring, gasket hardware list and SAP entries within specified time.
  • Preparing Manufacturing instructions, standard drawings & specifications.
  • Coordination with Service Cell for Erection, Commissioning & other Site related Problems.
  • Possessing knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes – DIN, ASME for Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Material Specification, Welding & Brazing Qualifications, Non-Destructive Testing.

Review and Technical Support

  • Participate and lead Design Reviews, joint inspections while guiding other functions such as Manufacturing and Quality.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customer and address customer queries.

  • Should have knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Cre or similar.
