  • Extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management, operations, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Strong background in project engineering management, including requirement gathering, strategy development, and execution.
  • Proficient in design systems, tools, and processes used in power transformer development.
  • Familiarity with TXpert Ecosystem is a plus.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work remotely with host factories.

Responsibilities

  • Drive standardization of transformer mechanical components across internal & external interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain base designs, standard design rules, checklists, and templates.
  • Reduce design variants and standardize parts aligned with BU strategy.
  • Review and validate mechanical drawings, layouts, and BOM structures.
  • Ensure compliance with IEEE / IEC standards and internal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with factory engineering, manufacturing, quality, product management & R&D.
  • Participate in design reviews, gate reviews, and standardization workshops.
  • Ensure designs are globally manufacturable across multiple factories for cost, quality, and cycle time.
  • Support factory teams during design transfer, implementation, and issue resolution.

Job Description: Team Lead- Mechanical Design Power Transformer (Non reportee). The opportunity Hitachi Energy is currently looking for an Team Lead for the Power Transformers Business to join their team in Global Engineering Center in Vadodara, India. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual. Transformers BU team leverages innovative and diverse technology to transform energy, delivering social, environmental, and economic value and enabling a sustainable energy future for current and future generations. The business’s comprehensive portfolio includes power transformers, traction transformers, insulation and components, digital sensors, and transformer services. How you’ll make an impact The successful candidate for Engineering Team Leader for the Power Transformers Engineering will oversee the creation of a team focused on transformer design. This role includes gathering requirements from various departments, translating them into strategy, and delivering manufacturable designs across any PT factories within Hitachi Energy.

Main Accountabilities
  • Drive standardization of transformer mechanical components, including internal & Tank, Radiators, Structures & externals.
  • Develop and maintain: Base designs, Standard design rules, checklists, and templates.
  • Work on reducing design variants and part standardization aligned with BU strategy.
  • Review and validate: Mechanical drawings, Layouts and Designs, BOM structures.
  • Ensure compliance with: IEEE / IEC standards & Internal design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with: Factory engineering teams, Manufacturing and quality teams, Product management & R&D.
  • Participate in: Design reviews, Gate reviews, Standardization workshops.
  • Ensure alignment between: Customer requirements, Factory capabilities Manufacturing Readiness & Deployment: Ensure designs are Globally manufacturable across multiple factories, Optimized for cost, quality, and cycle time.
  • Support factory teams during Design transfer, Implementation, Issue resolution.
Your background
  • B.E. (Mechanical) with >10 years’ experience in Trafo design, mainly on power transformer design.
  • Experience in Tender engineering and order engineering.
  • Experience of working for North America, Europe and Asian market IEC standard & IEEE standard.
  • Proven track record of engineering support and standardization across multiple factory locations.
  • Extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management, operations, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Strong background in project engineering management, including requirement gathering, strategy development, and execution.
  • Proficient in design systems, tools, and processes used in power transformer development.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms such as TXpert™ Ecosystem is a plus.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively while working remotely with host factories.
  • Experience managing cross-cultural customer interactions and engineering tasks across geographies.
  • Strong ability to delegate tasks based on team capabilities and monitor progress effectively.
  • Demonstrated skill in setting a strategic vision, driving team performance and delivering positive results.
  • Adaptable to new systems and processes across various factory environments.
