  • Review and assess Technical Product Documentation (TPD) including drawings, CAD models, BOMs, and manufacturing notes.
  • Identify missing or ambiguous technical information impacting quotation, manufacturability, or quality.
  • Ensure TPD packages are complete and suitable for external suppliers to manufacture parts.
  • Collaborate with design teams to close documentation gaps before supplier release.
  • Act as primary mechanical engineering contact for suppliers during RFQ.
  • Respond to supplier questions on drawings, tolerances, materials, finishes, processes, and assembly interfaces.
  • Facilitate technical discussions between suppliers and global design teams to resolve issues.
  • Recommend design or documentation improvements to enhance manufacturability and reduce risk.
  • Support engineering change implementation and update TPD accordingly.
  • Participate in supplier tech reviews and localization activities.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a strategic Supplier Base Transfer Program for Electron Microscope products. This role is responsible for ensuring that the Technical Product Documentation (TPD) package is complete, accurate, and manufacturing-ready before release to new suppliers as part of supplier localization from Europe (primarily the Czech Republic and other EU suppliers) to China.

The engineer will serve as the technical interface between Design Engineering and suppliers during the RFQ and industrialization phases, ensuring suppliers have all the information required to successfully manufacture components while resolving technical queries in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess Technical Product Documentation (TPD), including engineering drawings, specifications, CAD models, BOMs, material specifications, standards, and manufacturing notes.
  • Identify missing, ambiguous, or incomplete technical information that could impact supplier quotation, manufacturability, quality, or production.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or supplier engineering.
  • Strong expertise in interpreting complex engineering drawings, GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS), tolerance stack-up, and precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Excellent understanding of machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, injection molding, welding, surface treatments, and precision manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Siemens NX for reviewing and validating mechanical designs.
  • Experience using Teamcenter (or equivalent PLM/PDM system) for engineering documentation and configuration management.
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering Change Management (ECR/ECO) processes.
  • Experience working directly with global suppliers during RFQ, manufacturing transfer, or new product introduction.
  • Ability to independently evaluate documentation completeness and identify manufacturing risks before supplier release.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with precision instruments, electron microscopes, semiconductor equipment, medical devices, or other high-precision capital equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Inspection (DFI).
  • Familiarity with tolerance analysis and mechanical simulation using ANSYS is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other manufacturing quality tools is desirable
