Job summary

AMPA Groups in Chennai is seeking a Senior Manager Purchase to lead end-to-end procurement, ensuring timely, cost-effective sourcing of materials and services. Based on-site, you will develop purchase strategies, manage vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and oversee purchase orders, inventory, and compliance.

You will collaborate with project, operations, finance, and leadership teams to forecast demand, evaluate supplier performance, drive process improvements, and provide regular reports.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement or purchase management, preferably at a senior level in related industries.
• Strong skills in vendor management, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Experience in supply chain planning, inventory control, and cost optimization with ERP tools.
• Understanding of procurement policies, commercial terms, tenders, and vendor audits.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management across teams.
• Experience in leading and mentoring a purchase team in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field; CPSM/CIPS is an advantage.

Role Description

The Senior Manager Purchase will lead and oversee end-to-end procurement activities for AMPA Groups, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality sourcing of materials, services, and contracts. This full-time, on-site role based in Chennai involves developing and implementing purchase strategies, managing vendor relationships, and negotiating terms to optimize cost and value. The role includes monitoring inventory levels, coordinating with project, operations, finance, and other internal teams to align purchasing plans with business requirements, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. The Senior Manager Purchase will analyze market trends, evaluate supplier performance, and introduce process improvements to strengthen the supply chain. The role also entails preparing and reviewing purchase orders, maintaining accurate records, and providing regular reports and forecasts to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement or purchase management, preferably at a senior level within real estate, construction, retail, hospitality, or related industries.
• Strong skills in vendor management, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation, with the ability to secure favorable terms while maintaining long-term partnerships.
• Experience in supply chain planning, inventory control, and cost optimization, including the use of relevant ERP or procurement software.
• Solid understanding of procurement policies, commercial terms, and compliance requirements, including exposure to tenders, bids, and vendor audits.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data and market trends to inform purchase strategies.
• Clear and effective communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills to work closely with cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a purchase team, set priorities, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Commerce, or a related field; postgraduate qualification or professional certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is an advantage.
