Job summary

Mahindra And Mahindra Ltd. in Maharashtra’s Chakan area seeks an experienced Process Engineer/Engineering Manager to lead process engineering and planning for automotive manufacturing projects.

You will drive feasibility studies, capacity planning, NPI readiness, tooling and budget coordination with suppliers to maximise asset utilisation. Requirements include 12–17 years in automotive manufacturing, BE in Mechanical/Automobile/Production or Diploma in Engineering, and a proven record in TCF

Responsibilities

• Lead new product introduction planning, including facility readiness, tooling, gauges, fixtures and budget; drive procurement & implementation.
• Develop and oversee equipment and infra budget allocations, including civil and utility needs for successful projects.
• Drive adaptation initiatives for new products in current facilities focusing on equipment enhancement and process optimization.
• Coordinate with suppliers to execute MFMEA, installation, commissioning and post-installation support.

Job description

• Conduct comprehensive process feasibility studies for integrating new product requirements within existing manufacturing facilities, ensuring seamless adaptation while optimising operational capabilities.
• Perform detailed benchmarking of Body Shop Full-Touch Gauges (FTGs), electrical control systems, automation processes, and energy management strategies to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and corrosion protection of products.
• Manage new product introduction planning, encompassing facility readiness, tooling, gauges, fixtures, and budget preparation; lead procurement and implementation phases while maximising the utilisation of existing equipment assets through strategic sweat equity.
• Develop and oversee equipment and infrastructure budget allocations, including civil and utility requirements critical to successful project execution within stipulated financial frameworks.
• Drive adaptation initiatives for new products in current facilities with a focus on equipment enhancement and process optimisation to accommodate introductions of new models and variants effectively.
• Analyse process and product specifications to provide technical guidance and support to cross-functional teams in selecting appropriate equipment and technologies aligned with operational goals.
• Lead supplier scouting and technical coordination efforts to evaluate potential vendors; conduct SWOT analysis and develop comparison matrices to support capital purchase decisions, ensuring supplier adherence to RFQ specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
• Identify and mitigate capacity constraints aligned with volume demand through method study tools such as Man-Machine charts, optimise online and offline production strategies, and implement cost-effective automation solutions.
• Investigate and recommend sustainable new technologies, materials, and process innovations; assess feasibility and lead integration initiatives to enhance manufacturing capability and product quality.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers to execute Machinery Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA), overseeing installation, commissioning, and providing comprehensive post-installation support to ensure operational reliability.

Experience

• 12to 17 years of experience within the automotive manufacturing industry is required.
• The candidate should demonstrate a process engineering / planning to lead TCF projects.

General Requirements

• Strong background in capital asset management including procurement, supplier evaluation, RFQ administration, and negotiation skills.
• Advanced knowledge of method study techniques such as Man-Machine charts and the implementation of low-cost automation to optimise workspace productivity.
• Project management skills with a focus on cross-functional coordination, budgeting, and delivering results within defined timelines and resource constraints.
