Job Purpose
Cluster Head - Solar is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial performance of solar energy sites within the cluster. The role ensures the achievement of key performance targets such as plant availability, grid availability, and capacity utilization while optimizing costs and enhancing operational efficiency. The Cluster Head drives strategic initiatives in technology adoption, safety, compliance, and sustainability, all while fostering a skilled and safety-conscious team to achieve long-term business objectives.
Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Achieve target performance metrics (PR, CUF, PA, GA), ensuring operational efficiency across all sites.
- Ensure timely closure of audits and maintain '0' repetitive audit observations across the cluster.
- Manage inventory to ensure '0' value of stock above maximum or below minimum levels, and implement VED, FSN, and ABC categorization for all materials.
- Implement technology initiatives such as Google IC and drive cluster-based operation and maintenance philosophy.
- Ensure DSM does not exceed the budget.
- Analyze weekly interruption records to act proactively and eliminate errors with help of robust RCA and CAPA process, hence improve reliability of assets.
- Ensure implementation of SAP in totality, e.g. mapping the schedule PM/ Preservation PM, etc and closure of notifications, creation and closure of BM notification within set line.
Finance and Budget Management
- Ensure budget v/s actual performance for each site under the cluster.
- Prepare site-wise budgets for FY (OPEX, CAPEX, and procurement) ahead of the Finance team’s deadline.
- Manage O&M costs to remain within budget through efficient spares management and cost-effective solutions.
People Development and Team Management
- Attract, retain, and train site teams, ensuring plan v/s actual man-days of training.
- Identify and develop successors for key roles, across site positions.
- Promote a safety culture through training, interaction, and adherence to all safety standards, ensuring '0' accidents or Lost Time Injuries (LTIs).
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure 100% compliance with safety standards, including Suraksha Samwaad (Safety Interaction) and monthly safety training for employees.
- Ensure timely compliance with management systems (ESG initiatives, Legatrix, 5S, IMS, Business Excellence) across all sites.
- Achieve full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including factory licenses, CEIG inspections, and the calibration of ABT meters, fire inspector licence, etc.
Technology, Analytics, and Process Improvement
- Drive the adoption of new technologies for operational efficiency, including module cleaning for water conservation and vegetation management for cost optimization.
- Implement measurable and quantifiable technology initiatives to enhance site performance.
- Ensure timely implementation of process improvements and analytics-driven solutions, reducing downtime and enhancing performance.
Business Excellence and CSR
- Ensure the awareness & adherence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all sites.
- Participate in and drive CSR activities.
- Maintain compliance with Business Excellence frameworks, including IMS certification, MAAS audit closure, and 5S implementation.
- Ensure the successful execution of VIP visits and special events at the site, providing adequate support and ensuring event success.

Qualifications
Educational Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/ Diploma – Electrical or Electronics or relevant to Solar Energy Sector
- MBA – Advantageous
Work Experience
- 20+ years of experience in Energy Sector is must. (If Diploma holder: additional 2-3 Y Exp. req.)
