MittiLabs is seeking a senior finance leader to run US and India payroll, manage intercompany accounting, and ensure audit‑ready records across multiple jurisdictions. You will own banking relationships, reconcile monthly books, and coordinate with external auditors to close annual statutory audits.

The role requires experience in startups or scale‑ups, strong FP&A exposure, and a track record of building scalable finance operations.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10+ years in finance operations, controllership, or accounting.
• Experience running a finance function at a startup or scale‑up.
• Experience with US payroll and US tax advisors.
• Intercompany accounting and transfer pricing knowledge.
• Proven track record with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
• Fluent English with strong communication to senior leadership.
• Experience building finance operations for new entities in SE Asia is preferred.
• Exposure to FP&A: forecast models, variance analysis, or unit economics is preferred.
• Experience rolling out company cards, expense tools, or payroll systems is preferred.
• Experience in agriculture or climate-related sectors with small payments to individuals is preferred.

ROLE

• Run US and India payroll, coordinating with HR on joiners, leavers, and changes
• Manage payments to thousands of farmers, ensuring accurate records, reconciled payouts, and audit-ready documentation
• Invoice customers, track collections, and manage third-party invoices and payment runs with founders
• Track and report on grant funding
• Own banking relationships and bank portals
• Reconcile and close monthly books for US and Indian entities, transitioning this work from external providers to in-house
• Prepare for and manage annual statutory audits, coordinating external chartered accountants and auditors in each jurisdiction
• Map transactions to cost categories for variance analysis and tag spend to farming seasons to track unit economics
• Support CEO office and Chief of Staff with cash and runway planning, strategic modelling, and ad‑‑board/investor reporting
• Own finance and payroll platforms, implementing financial controls, approvals, access rights, and spend limits
• Review expenses and reimbursements for US and Indian staff, roll out company cards with level-based limits, and periodically update reimbursement policy and software spend
• Automate manual processes by moving them into systems wherever possible
• Manage intercompany reconciliation, transfer pricing, and treasury between US and Indian entities
• Set up books and finance processes for new entities in the Philippines and broader South East Asia as the company expands
• Hire and manage a Finance Assistant once foundational processes are established
• Manage relationships with external chartered accountants and auditors for statutory audit and tax sign-off

REQUIREMENTS

• 7 to 10+ years in finance operations, controllership, or accounting, including experience running a finance function at a startup or scale‑up
• Experience with a US entity: US payroll, US book closure, and working with US tax advisors
• Working knowledge of intercompany accounting and transfer pricing between a US parent and an Indian subsidiary
• Proven track record managing external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors to deliver on time
• Strong instinct for identifying anomalies in accounts
• Fluent English
• Experience setting up finance operations for new entities in South East Asia – strongly preferred
• Exposure to FP&A: forecast models, variance analysis, or unit economics – strongly preferred
• Experience rolling out company cards, expense tools, or payroll systems – strongly preferred
• Experience in agriculture, climate, carbon markets, or businesses with large volumes of small payments to individuals – strongly preferred
• Experience building and managing a small finance team – strongly preferred
• Operator mindset: prefers fixing broken processes and can clearly communicate problems and solutions to senior management
• Meticulous: obsessive about reconciliations, deadlines, and filings
• Sound judgment and communication: knows when to scrutinize expenses, when to elevate, and can clearly convey issues to leadership
• Hands‑on: willing to perform the work personally now and build a team later
