Job summary

AB InBev GCC India seeks a Senior Manager of Data Science to lead hands-on delivery of complex data science problems in Bangalore. You will mentor data scientists and ML engineers, drive production deployment, and deliver reusable data products across global programs.

You will design robust data pipelines, evaluate models, and collaborate with engineers to connect data science to real-world applications. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years solving applied data science problems with hands-on leadership and production delivery.
• Strong Python and data science ecosystem expertise with production ML deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data science problems from framing and data readiness through modeling, deployment, and product integration.
• Design and implement data pipelines, models, and evaluation methods for production environments.
• Explore demanding problems across domains, choose approaches based on evidence and business needs.
• Write production code, review others’ work, and improve reproducibility, testing, monitoring, and model quality.
• Build reusable libraries and packages to simplify data science integration across programs.
• Partner with engineers and global program teams to connect models to workflows.
• Make sound technical and product judgments and explain tradeoffs clearly.
• Manage and develop data scientists and ML engineers through goals, feedback, and code reviews.

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, Data Science

Location: Bangalore (Onsite)

Reporting to: Director, Data & Analytics

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Lead the hands‑on delivery of difficult data science problems across major global programs. Take work from data pipelines and modeling through deployment and integration into high-priority products. Mentor data scientists and machine learning engineers, and turn useful methods into reusable packages that other programs can adopt.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Own complex data science problems end to end, from framing and data readiness through modeling, deployment, and product integration.
• Design and implement data pipelines, models, and evaluation methods that hold up in production.
• Explore demanding problems across domains, selecting approaches that fit the evidence, business need, and delivery constraints.
• Write production code, review others’ work, and improve reproducibility, testing, monitoring, and model quality.
• Build reusable libraries and packages that make data science capabilities easier to integrate into multiple products and programs.
• Partner with engineers and global program teams to connect models and data products to real applications and workflows.
• Make sound technical and product judgments when a problem is ambiguous, and explain the tradeoffs clearly.
• Manage and develop data scientists and machine learning engineers through goals, feedback, hands‑on problem solving, and code review.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience:

• Typically 8+ years solving applied data science problems, including hands‑on technical leadership and production delivery. Demonstrated depth matters more than a specific number of years.

• Applied statistics, modeling, and rigorous evaluation – Expert
• Data pipelines, production ML, and model deployment – Advanced
• Production‑quality code, testing, code review, and reusable package design – Advanced
• AI‑assisted coding workflows and coding agents, such as Codex – Expert
• Technical mentorship and communication – Advanced

Preferred (Good to have) Skills:

• Azure and Databricks environments – Intermediate
• Open‑source contribution and reusable package development – Advanced
• Experience in optimization, forecasting, experimentation, or generative AI – Advanced
