Senior Engineering Manager, Health & Wellness Data Engineering

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Health and Wellness Data Engineering team. In this pivotal role you will be responsible for the architecture, development, and maintenance of our cutting‑edge data lake, which serves as the foundation for our pharmacy and vision centre operations. You will also spearhead the creation of innovative data products that drive business insights and improve health outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on leader with a strong technical background in data engineering and a passion for building and mentoring high‑performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a high‑performing team of data engineers, fostering their professional development and career growth.
• Cultivate a team culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
• Direct the architectural design, development, and ongoing maintenance of the Health & Wellness data lake.
• Oversee the creation and optimization of robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for both real‑time and batch data processing.
• Guide the implementation and management of enterprise‑level data warehouse solutions.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop and launch new data‑driven products.
• Drive the end‑to‑end development of scalable data and analytics solutions to address key business needs.
• Establish and champion best practices for data quality, integrity, and reliability across all systems.
• Implement and enforce data governance and security policies to ensure compliance with industry regulations such as HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• Possess a minimum of 12 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a proven track record.
• Demonstrate successful experience in designing and implementing large‑scale data solutions.
• Have at least 3 years of leadership experience, effectively managing and mentoring data engineering teams.
• Previous experience in the healthcare, pharmacy, or life sciences domain is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Expert‑level proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and building data‑intensive applications.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
• Strong expertise in designing and orchestrating data pipelines using Airflow.
• Hands‑on experience with big data processing frameworks, particularly PySpark.
• Advanced SQL skills for complex data querying, analysis, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to translate data into actionable business insights.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑first mentality.
