Job summary

Kyndryl is seeking a Mainframe CICS Support System Administrator to ensure the availability, stability, and performance of mission-critical CICS on z/OS. The role requires strong expertise in CICS infrastructure, problem determination, and incident resolution within a 24x7 mainframe environment.

Responsibilities include installation, configuration, tuning, and optimization of CICS software; monitoring workloads; resolving incidents; and collaborating with z/OS, DB2, MQ, and security teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience supporting IBM CICS Transaction Server environments on z/OS.
• In-depth knowledge of CICS architecture, region management, RDO, SIT parameters, and system initialization processes.
• Strong production troubleshooting skills with dumps, traces, logs, and performance metrics.
• Experience with change, incident, and problem management frameworks in high-availability systems.

Responsibilities

• Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and manage IBM CICS software on z/OS.
• Performance & Monitoring: Monitor CICS regions, tune performance, balance workloads for high availability.
• Troubleshooting & Analysis: Resolve incidents using CICS dumps, traces, logs, RCA.
• Application & Team Support: Assist application teams with CICS deployments with other teams (z/OS, DB2, MQ, Storage, Network, Security).
• Operations & Compliance: Manage change controls, DR testing, audit, on-call rotations, and task automation.

The Role

The Mainframe CICS Support System Adminstrator role ensures the availability, stability, performance, and resiliency of mission-critical transaction processing systems supporting enterprise business operations. The position requires strong technical expertise in CICS infrastructure, problem determination, performance tuning, incident resolution, and change implementation within a complex 24x7 mainframe environment.

• Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and manage IBM CICS software, startup procedures, and resource definitions on z/OS.
• Performance & Monitoring: Continuously monitor CICS regions, tune performance, and balance workloads to ensure high availability.
• Troubleshooting & Analysis: Resolve incidents and service outages using CICS dumps, traces, logs, and root cause analysis (RCA).
• Application & Team Support: Assist application teams with CICS deployments and collaborate with z/OS, DB2, MQ, Storage, Network, and Security teams.
• Operations & Compliance: Manage change controls, documentation, disaster recovery testing, audit compliance, on-call rotations, and task automation.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience & Mainframe Core: 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting IBM CICS Transaction Server environments along with a strong foundation in z/OS operating systems.
• Architecture & System Configuration: In-depth knowledge of CICS architecture, region management, RDO, SIT parameters, and system initialization processes.
• Production Troubleshooting & Analysis: Strong problem-resolution skills with hands-on experience analyzing CICS dumps, traces, logs, and performance metrics in high-volume production environments.
• Operational Processes: Practical experience with change, incident, and problem management frameworks in high-availability systems.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Experience with CICS Transaction Server version upgrades, migrations, CICSplex SM, CPSM, and dynamic workload routing.
• Expertise in monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting CICS performance using tools like IBM OMEGAMON, CICS PA, MainView, or Sysview.
• Working knowledge of related middleware technologies (DB2, MQ, IMS) and mainframe security administration using RACF.
• Hands-on experience with disaster recovery execution, automated scripting, ITIL processes, and supporting 24x7 globally distributed production environments.
