Job summary

Kyndryl is seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer in Bengaluru to lead and support complex z/OS environments. The role involves hands-on analysis, solution delivery, and collaboration with Architects, Technicians, and PMs across projects.

You will contribute to both immediate project work and long-range IT infrastructure planning, with opportunities for growth toward Architect or Distinguished Engineer roles within a hybrid-friendly culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in z/OS System Administration with work management, user management, journal management and performance management.
• Act as support and domain expert for z/OS OS and components; plan, coordinate, install, implement and test releases/upgrades/changes.
• Primary support for assigned ISV products and root-cause analysis of z/OS issues.
• Analyze performance issues and provide technical consultations to IT teams.
• Support for new product installation and evaluation as needed.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and tests as scheduled.
• Lead daily Operations meetings when no P1 incidents.
• Knowledge: z/OS, Unix System Services, SMP/E, REXX, Java, VSAM, third-party products.
• Proven ISV product support experience.
• Ability to recognize complex problems and implement solutions.
• Experience with BRMS, Tape management, ATL/VTL for Tape Libraries.

The Role

As a Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure - good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally "figuring it out." This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients. There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn't specific to any one platform, so you'll need a good feel for all of them. Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Minimum 10+ years of experience in z/OS System Administration environment with work management, user management, journal management and performance management. Act as support and domain expert for z/OS operating system and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, coordination, installation, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software. Primary support for assigned ISV products along with diagnose z/OS platform system and product issues and follow up with root cause analysis. Analyse performance issues while providing technical consultation and inquiries from the other IT technical teams. Support for new product installation and evaluation as needed. Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and tests as scheduled. Lead daily Operations meetings provided there are no P1 incidents running. Validated knowledge in the following technologies: z/OS, Unix System Services, SMP/E, REXX, Java, VSAM, Third party products. Proven experience in providing support for ISV products. Ability to Recognize complex problems related to functional objectives. Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures or processes and demonstrated ability on BRMS, Tape management, ATL/VTL for Tape Libraries.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• SME for MF ZOS system programming problem determination.
• Technical guidance to the team.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to current and future system software requirements to meet the organization's needs.
• Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Troubleshoot Infrastructure and Application issues related to ZOS.
