Persistent Systems is seeking a Senior Linux & Cloud Platform Engineer with 12-15 years of experience to design, implement, and optimize enterprise Linux and cloud platforms. The role spans on‑prem and cloud environments, emphasizing automation, security, and high availability across complex systems.

The ideal candidate will lead initiatives, work with DevOps and security teams, and mentor junior engineers while supporting hybrid work arrangements and diverse Persistent locations.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of Linux system administration and platform engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu.
• Proficient in AWS cloud services and infrastructure management.
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting for automation.
• Experience with GitHub for source control and pipelines.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Linux & Cloud Platform Engineer with 12-15 years of experience in Linux system administration, cloud infrastructure management, automation, and platform engineering. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, AWS Cloud, GitHub, Python, and Bash scripting. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and supporting enterprise-scale Linux and cloud platforms while ensuring high availability, security, operational excellence, and performance optimization.

What You'll Do:

• Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise Linux environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Manage and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu systems.
• Deploy, configure, monitor, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Build and manage cloud-native infrastructure and services on AWS.
• Develop automation solutions using Python and Bash scripting to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage source code repositories, workflows, and automation pipelines using GitHub.
• Perform system provisioning, configuration management, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Monitor system health, capacity, security compliance, and operational performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and platform issues.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Collaborate with DevOps, application, security, and infrastructure teams to support platform requirements.
• Drive platform modernization and infrastructure automation initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge repositories.
• Participate in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis activities.

• 12-15 years of experience in Linux system administration and platform engineering.

• Ability to support mission-critical production environments with high availability requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in complex enterprise environments.
