Job summary

The Corporate Institute in Mumbai seeks a senior ECM origination professional to lead client acquisition and investor engagement for IPOs, QIPs, rights issues, and other equity instruments. You will build and mentor a small team, manage relations with corporates, promoters, PE/VC investors, and institutions, and coordinate with the execution team to ensure smooth handoffs from origination to execution.

Strong networks and SEBI ICDR/LODR familiarity are preferred; hands‑on drafting is a plus but

Qualifications

  • Ten to fifteen years of post‑qualification experience in ECM, investment banking or capital markets with a track record in origination and client acquisition.
  • Established personal network among corporates, promoters, PE/VC investors and institutional counterparties for deal origination.
  • Experience engaging directly with institutional investors and managing investor relationships and roadshows.
  • Familiarity with the ECM regulatory framework (SEBI ICDR, LODR); hands‑on execution/drafting experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Originate ECM mandates by proactively building and managing relationships with corporates, promoters, PE/VC investors, family offices and other issuers.
  • Identify and pursue new client opportunities across sectors, converting relationships into live mandates for IPOs, QIPs, rights issues, OFS and other equity instruments.
  • Lead client‑facing engagement through the transaction lifecycle – pitching, mandate negotiation and ongoing relationship stewardship.
  • Drive syndication and investor placement strategy, including anchor investor identification, book‑building coordination and syndicate desk relationships.
  • Build and maintain an active network of institutional investors, mutual funds, FPIs, family offices and PE/VC funds through regular meetings and roadshows.
  • Represent the firm at investor and industry meetings, conferences and roadshows to build market visibility and deal flow.
  • Build and present pitch books, market positioning and transaction rationale for prospective clients and internal management review.
  • Track primary market trends, competitor deal flow and investor appetite to sharpen origination strategy and pipeline conversion.
  • Coordinate with the execution team (legal, due diligence, documentation) as needed to ensure smooth handoff of mandates, without owning day‑to‑day execution.
  • Mentor and guide AVP/DVP level team member on origination approach and client engagement.
  • Support the Head – ECM in pipeline reviews, MIS and business planning for the ECM vertical.

Role Summary:

A senior individual contributor role leading origination of ECM mandates – IPOs, QIPs, rights issues, OFS, preferential allotments and other equity – equity‑linked instruments – with primary focus on client acquisition, relationship management and investor engagement. The incumbent will work closely with the Head – ECM to build the client franchise and syndication network, and will mentor the junior member of the team. Execution and legal coordination are supported separately; hands‑on execution/drafting exposure is a good‑to‑have, not a core requirement.

Experience Profile:
  • 10 – 15 years of post‑qualification experience in ECM, investment banking or capital markets, with a demonstrated track record in origination and client acquisition.
  • Established personal network among corporates, promoters, PE/VC investors and institutional counterparties that can be activated for deal origination.
