Job summary

Staples India Business Innovation Hub Private Limited is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to provide strategic technical leadership for enterprise platforms. You will drive architecture, guide teams, and promote technical excellence across the organization, delivering scalable, secure solutions for supply chain and retail operations.

You will mentor engineers, lead DevSecOps adoption, and oversee CI/CD, observability, and production readiness in a cloud-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 10–15+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
• Extensive hands-on Java and enterprise application development.
• Deep expertise in Spring framework: Boot, Cloud, Security, Batch, Data JPA, Integration.
• Strong microservices and event-driven architecture experience.
• Proven cloud experience: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Kafka.
• Relational and NoSQL databases expertise.

As a Senior Lead Engineer, you will provide strategic technical leadership for the design, development, and modernization of enterprise platforms supporting Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Order Management, Fulfillment, Logistics, Marketplace, and Retail operations.

You will lead architecture, guide engineering teams, establish engineering standards, and drive cloud-native platform development using modern software engineering practices. Working closely with engineering leadership, product management, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders, you will deliver scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performing solutions while mentoring engineers and promoting technical excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10–15+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java and enterprise application development.
• Deep expertise in the Spring ecosystem, including:

• Experience with messaging technologies including Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Solace, or RabbitMQ.

• Expertise in REST API design, API lifecycle management, GraphQL (preferred), OAuth2, JWT, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and distributed computing.
• Experience implementing CI/CD, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, and automated deployment pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software security, scalability, observability, and production operations.
