Job summary

RTX in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Senior Lead Engineer – Aerothermal to spearhead advanced CFD and thermal analyses across aerospace platforms. You will own external aerodynamics, internal flows, and conjugate heat transfer tasks, guiding multiphysics simulations and modeling methodologies in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will mentor teams, lead cross-functional collaboration with design, test, and program functions, and drive innovative solutions with Python and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics, Electronics packaging, Multi phase and multi physics.
• Demonstrated expertise in Thermal Testing and correlation with analysis results.
• Good Knowledge in Aerospace standards like DO-160, Boeing and Airbus requirements, materials and Manufacturing processes.
• Manage and execute complex flow problems using CFD and other analytical tools and methods.
• Proficiency in using tools like ANSYS Fluent, Star CCM+, ICEPAK is must.
• Strong understanding of numerical methods, discretization schemes, and solver behavior. Experience with mesh generation, grid independence studies, and solution convergence.
• Exposure to Opti slang and knowledge in programming languages like Python is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end CFD and thermal simulation activities for aerospace products.
• Perform and oversee external aerodynamics and internal flow analysis, including compressible, turbulent, and advanced Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) simulations.
• Develop and execute multiphase flow models (e.g., Mixing, Evaporation). Drive Multiphysics simulations integrating fluid flow, heat transfer, structural interaction, and, where applicable, chemical reactions.
• Optimize designs for thermal performance, aerodynamic efficiency, and Thermal Compliance.
• Provide technical direction, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, structures, materials, and testing.
• Contribute to proposal development, technical reviews, and customer presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and teams.

We are seeking a highly experienced Aerothermal Engineer to lead advanced simulation efforts in aerothermal sciences, with a strong focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis.
