Job summary

Principal Financial Group in India, Maharashtra, is seeking a Senior Lead Analyst - Accounting to support SCBU FP&A with process redesign and advanced reporting. The role emphasizes building leadership-friendly visualizations, data modelling, and end-to-end dashboard operations.

You will automate reports using Power BI and Power Query, validate data across multiple sources, and present insights to leadership.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or professional qualification in finance or accounting.
• CA or MBA Finance preferred.
• 6–10 years of experience with complex datasets, analytics, reporting in BFSI.
• Proficiency in Oracle Essbase/Peoplesoft, Excel, Power Query, PowerPoint.
• Experience with large datasets and multiple data sources.
• Knowledge of financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Support the SCBU FP&A team in process redesign, reporting improvements, and system enhancements to align with evolving business requirements.
• Design leadership-friendly visualizations highlighting KPIs, financial trends, and business drivers.
• Automate manual reports and recurring processes with Power BI and Power Query.
• Collect, clean, aggregate, and validate data from multiple SCBUs and systems.
• Establish data links, build data models, and maintain reporting datasets for dashboards.
• Support forecasting, actuals reporting, and variance reviews.
• Provide analytical support for performance metrics and KPIs.
• Document processes, data flows, and dashboard refresh cycles.
• Highlight trends, outliers, and data inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with SCBU FP&A teams and finance partners to align data/reporting standards.
• Gain understanding of financial data structures and reporting tools.
• Manage deliverables independently and present insights for leadership.

• Design intuitive, leadership‑friendly visualizations that highlight KPIs, financial trends, and business drivers.
• Automate manual reports and recurring processes using Power BI, Power Query, and other analytical tools to improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time.
• Collect, clean, aggregate, and validate data from multiple SCBUs and enterprise systems to ensure accuracy and reliability of reporting.
• Establish and maintain data links between different sources, building data models, and maintaining reporting datasets to support end‑to‑end dashboard operations. (Power BI datasets, Oracle Essbase/ Peoplesoft, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to create a seamless reporting ecosystem.
• Support forecasting, actuals reporting, and value analysis by preparing data inputs and performing first‑level variance reviews.
• Provide initial analytical support for performance metrics, and operational KPIs, highlighting anomalies and key insights.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Master’s degree / Professional Degree / Relevant Industry Certification
• Preferably Chartered Accountant or MBA Finance
• 6-10 years’ of relevant experience in handling complex datasets, analytics, reporting. (preferably in BFSI Industry, either in GCC / service provider environment)

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Oracle Essbase/ Peoplesoft, Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, Power Query), PowerPoint.
• Comfort working with large datasets and connecting to varied data sources.
• Basic understanding of financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet).
• Experience with data cleansing, validation, and transformation.
• Exposure to SQL or other database/querying tools
