Position: Software Engineer (Java Development) – UPI
Industry Preference: Banking/Digital Payments. Reports to: Tech Lead.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Java Developer with hands‑on experience in UPI to join our high‑performing engineering team. You will work on mission‑critical banking/payment applications that demand high availability, scalability, and security.
As a key contributor, you will help design and build robust backend systems aligned with our product strategy, ensuring seamless digital payment experiences across UPI and other payment rails.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain UPI‑based payment solutions with high availability and performance
- Contribute across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Build scalable backend services using Java / Java EE technologies
- Develop APIs for UPI integrations (e.g., PSP, TPAP, bank integrations, NPCI switch connectivity)
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices
- Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization
- Ensure applications comply with UPI/NPCI guidelines, security, and regulatory standards
- Work on real‑time transaction processing systems with strong focus on reliability and latency
- Prepare and manage releases of software components
- Convert business requirements into technical solutions
- Support continuous improvement through research of new technologies and tools
- Participate in architecture discussions and design reviews
- Maintain test environments and implement unit/integration testing
- Identify system bottlenecks and optimize performance
- Create technical documentation, user guides, and training materials
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science / IT / Electronics or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in Java backend development
- Strong expertise in Core Java, Collections Framework, OOP concepts and design patterns, Java EE (JSP, Servlets)
- Experience with frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot (preferred) or Struts
- Hands‑on experience in RESTful APIs / Web Services (SOAP & REST), XML and JSON processing
- Database knowledge: MySQL / PostgreSQL, ORM frameworks like Hibernate / JPA
- Experience with application servers like Apache Tomcat
- Strong understanding of multithreading and concurrency (important for UPI systems)
- Experience with unit testing frameworks like JUnit
UPI / Payments Domain Expertise
- Hands‑on experience with UPI integrations (PSP/TPAP/Banks)
- Understanding of NPCI specifications and UPI architecture
- Knowledge of UPI flows (Collect, Pay, Intent, QR)
