Job summary

Global Payments Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Apex team and help shape the future of global commerce. You will design and build highly scalable, distributed systems with Java, Spring, and Kafka, working across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will lead by example in agile delivery, drive TDD/BDD, DevOps practices, and cloud adoption (AWS). Collaborate across functions to deliver robust services, own production services, and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Java development with Spring/Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed systems using Kafka.
• Cloud experience in AWS or Azure; ownership of production services.
• Strong communication and leadership in agile teams; DevOps mindset.
• Knowledge of Event Driven Design, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing & CQRS.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Own

We are looking to hire a top-class Software Engineer to help us on our journey. You need to have experience in designing and building highly scalable, loosely coupled, event driven, distributed systems. You need to be an expert in Java and have built systems using Kafka on premise or in the cloud. You should be capable of leading by example across all functions of the team including agile process adoption, software development, testing, TDD/BDD, DevOps & cloud. You will Guide the team on our journey towards

• Adoption of Agile process and practices
• Fostering an engineering mindset within the team
• Cloud (AWS)
• Adoption of DevOps best practices, tools and technologies

What You’ll Bring

• Currently 6+Yrs hands-on software Engineer with Java8/11/17 Development with technologies like Spring, Spring boot, Microservices Architecture
• Any Messaging service preferably Kafka
• Experience delivering products/services in the Cloud AWS or Azure
• Demonstrated accountability for a production service having contributed to that service build
• Leading change in technical teams
• Great communication skills (written and verbal)
• Knowledgeable on Architecture and Design Patterns.
• Knowledgeable on current technology architectures and approaches such as Event Driven Design, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing & CQRS

It’s a bonus if you have

• Knowledgeable on BDD / TDD practices and have worked with these approaches in the past
• Knowledgeable on DevOps best practices, technologies (Dockers) and tools (Kubernetes, Ansible, terraform) having worked with these in the past.
